When people associate my hometown with horses and ranches. I live in a reletively small town right next to a pretty big city, and to be fair, a lot of people in my town DO own horses, but not ALL of us.

Seriously, every time someone finds out where I live, their next question is always "Do you own a horse?"

Which I don't.

Well, if there is any good criticism of Obama, i havent heard it. So far its been for him being kind to the rest of the world (interperated as being weak) and being too calm (same thing) God forbid people start to like America and we dont have a hot head leader.

As for gay marriage and the like, Adam and Eve, and next people will wanna marry their dog and lamp is just dumb. I could argue stupid like that too against not letting gays marry. "Lets not let gays, then blacks, then next we shouldnt let anyone marry anyone who isnt themselves, cept you cant anyway since that would be...gay"
Well, about Obama, he refused help from 13 different countries in the first week of the oil spill disaster, and refused help with this oil spill until it was a complete, utter disaster, about 5 weeks in. All he did beforehand was try to figure out who to blame for it until he started taking flack from everyone for taking multiple golfing outings, except Gibbs says you can't call it "playing golf," you have to say he's "clearing his mind." He consistently says he's "not going to rest until...." but he golfs multiple times a month, takes a 4 day vacation to Las Vegas, and multiple trips each month. Now, I would normally let that pass, but Bush was raked across the coals when he went golfing once after the War in Iraq started, and after that, he never went golfing as president.

Obama's inexperience is really starting to show. He is a fantastic campaigner, but when he starts campaigning against an oil spill because that's all he knows how to do, it looks really bad.

I don't completely understand what you meant by your gay marriage argument, but I'll tell you mine. Mine is 2 fold. First the nit-picky one: "Marriage" is a distinct concept with a distinct definition. Language is built upon clear distinct definitions, and changing them willy-nilly because you want to leads inevitably to the destruction of language itself. When words can mean whatever you want them to mean, they mean nothing. Make up a new word, call it "civil union," whatever, but don't call it "Marriage" because it isn't.

Secondly, I point to an uncommon source: Friedrich Nietchze and his "will to power" concept. He argued that Christianity, in 19th century Germany was unhealthy for society because it depreciated the growth of society, and damaged the will to continue growing into the next generation. This ties in to homosexual relationships in the modern age.

Homosexual relationships do not produce offspring without heterosexual input. Therefore, assuming monogamous relationships, as the ratio of homosexual to heterosexual relationships within society increases, the ability of the society to grow decreases.

If a society cannot maintain a 1.2% growth rate, they decline and within a few generations suffer from complete societal collapse due to not having a large enough young, productive, youthful population to sustain the old, and continue to the next generation. It's all in the numbers. "Gay Marriage" then becomes damaging to the growth of a society, and therefore is damaging to the future of the society, and reduces the "will to power."

Metroid and Halo

I don't just want to slap them i want to punch them to the ground and jump up and down on them for a bit as well.

Some might say it's a perfectly reasonable comparison but "some" might say that about every comparison mentioned earlier. (and they obviously did)

People who compare things to the preceding bad incident. All the time on the news "this is Obama's katrina", "this is the worst flood since the floods of 1976" etc etc I get it, it is a crisis of some sought but give it a break please.

Although I can understand why people would compare the two, it pisses me off when people compare Fallout to Metro 2033. No. Just...no. But I've never wanted to slap anyone for it. I do want to slap Stephenie Meyer for making me forever associate vampires with sparkly fairies. And my friend works at this pizza place, and her boss told her how to find a brothel with the search function - apparently you type in 69696969 and then you get the name of the brothel. Anyhow, the brothel's name turned out to be Gotham City. Now I can never think of Batman without thinking of both pizza and brothels.

Anytime some one tries to compare Obama, Bush, or Beck to Hitler.

That, and once I heard some one try to compare the Tea Party to Timothy McVeigh(the guy who bombed the Murrah building in Oklahoma.

Some rich asshole at my former high school once compared his house to Auschwitz because he had his iPod Touch confiscated by his parents for bad grades.

Our math teacher (who was a survivor of Auschwitz himself [he even had the tattoo on his arm]) completely lost it. I don't think I've ever heard a teacher yell that loud. Especially one that was 74.
Really?! Are you sure he even knew what Auschwitz was or did he just hear the name a go yeah that'll do for my analogy?

OT: Whenever someone compares covers of songs to the original because most of the time its an awful new band covering a classic song but the band covering it totally misses the point.

Well, since it's the very existence of homosexual relationships that result in depopulation, marriage shouldn't be an issue. A change in the ratio of homosexual to heterosexual relationships is something we cannot control, whether gay marriage exists or not.

If anything, gay marriage motivates gay couples to produce children, as procreation is more likely to occur within a gay couple if they are married. Even if it is with the use of surrogates, procreation is procreation.

Not to mention Japan, which is one of the few developed countries in the world in which underpopulation is a major issue, has no legal recognition for homosexual couples, so that obviously isn't a major factor.

Most arguments against gay marriage and most criticism of Obama. They usually are baseless.
I could argue both coherently, but I agree that most political criticism from each and every side is enough to shake your head at.

I have an Obama criticism. He seems to give up too easily on the bills he wants to pass. And he starts at what he wants and it gets stripped down to practically nothing. He should start an idea with lots of crazy stuff so when the conservatives strip it down, it'll be around what he wanted in the first place. Like a car dealer, start the price high so when the customer negotiates and gets a lower price, he thinks hes getting a deal when its what the car would of been sold originally

OT: Gay marriage will lead to polygamy/bestiality/child sex/whatever. What part of two consenting adults don't they get?

You know I had a real good one, but I completely lost it when I hear some of the ones in this list. Some of these are rough.

Apples and Oranges. Man it makes me mad when people compare those two.

I'm inclined to agree. Both make respectable juices and they're both pretty tasty. But oranges have that stupid peel. I want food, not a chore.

I hate how people willfully confuse analogies with comparisons.

I'll elaborate. When attempting to illustrate the relationship between two things, one might reference a similar relationship between two other things. If the listener is a total fuckwit, he or she may mistakenly believe the speaker is comparing a member of the first pair with a member from the second. Many listeners will do this intentionally in order to discredit the speaker. This forces him/her to forgo the use of analogy in attempting to explain him/herself.

I'm reminded of one time someone at my school was complaining about how much he hated our school and that it was the worst school in the state and it was like a prison. The truth was that it was considered one the best schools in the country and he was saying all of this to someone who actually did go to the worst school in the state. Wow did that kid scream.

People comparing Zombieland to Shaun of the Dead.

Just 'cause it has zombies doesn't mean they're comparable.

"Shaun of the Dead wuz better then zombielund so zambilend most be maed of ass"
If you honestly can't see the humongous differences between those two movies, and why you can't compare them other than "Which do I prefer?", you need a reverse lobotomy.
