I had a rabbit(the one that is my avatar) get really thin. Like lost muscle. And lost hair. And would fall when he stood up or bump into things.
After a few days, he died.

My cousin and I found a kitten and named it Pudgy. One morning, when my aunt was leaving for work, Pudgy ran out and jumped on her tire. My aunt didn't notice until she backed out of the driveway. We should have kept Pudgy in the other room.

In another story, a friend's dog was run over and pretty much cut in half. He dragged my cousin and I over to see the body and say goodbye.

It's upsetting when animals you know die...

I have owned fire-bellied toads for nearly half my life. Many of them have died over the years, but one was extremely odd.

One of my toads (Named Trevor, after watching Harry Potter) he started to develop a strange white growth on his tail-bone. A few days later, he died. I don't know what the hell happened to the poor guy, and I'm still trying to figure it out.

My mom also said that one of my other toads had died, because a mealworm ate it's way out of his stomach.

Those fucking bastards.

My dog was a jumpy one.
One day I put her on her leash and went inside to fall asleep, I went outside to feed her and found her hanging on the other side of the fence.
Ugh...fucking sleeping pills, I would have woke up to her crying but these pills knock me out.
I had to cut her down, Its the worst feeling ever.

I had a beta fish and I put it in a tank with an algy eater (they said it would be ok), but the beta fish murdered the algy eater.... then died because the tank got dirty...

I also had a cockateel that committed suicide.

Reminds me of Ginnipe's story. His dog died in the same way- run over by inconsiderate assholes.

My last two dogs have been had to put down because of behavioral problems (they were rescued shelter dogs). One bit a utility worker, the other bit my little brother in the face. Granted, my brother was half retarded when it came to animals at the time... "OO, DOGGIE, LEMMEE PET'CHA HARD!" He actually hit him with a baseball bat once "on accident". Black labs don't look like white leather balls, genius.

I still haven't really forgiven him for it. He was 10 or 11 at the time; old enough to know better.

That last bit made me sad.

My oldest dog-- the one I've had since I was a year old-- died but a month or two ago. I wasn't even there. She lived with my mom. She wasn't eating without being forced, and drank a lot. So my mom thought it was her kidney or something like that. After taking it to the vet, the doctor gave my mom some pills to make the dog feel better. When they got home, Cocoa (the dog) was kind of sprawled on the floor of the car. She could barely get up. They went back to the vet and he said she'd had a stroke. I forget if they put her down, or she died on the way there.

Either way, I really wish I had had the chance to say goodbye.

While living on a ranch I had a bunch of blue heeler puppies. Some how, some way one got into one of my brothers show pig pens, and these mothafuckers were always hungry and fierce when, well towards anything smaller then them. While I was going to feed the dogs I noticed one was missing and that the pigs were all excited about something. So I'm checkin things out and I find that not only were they ripping her apart, but that she apparently was still alive as when I got close over the squealing I could hear her screaming and whimpering. So after grabbing a hotshot and a 2x4 and beatin ass for almost 20 mins I found that she had been mostly ate up and practically died in front of me. That literally messed with me for the longest and when my brother gets done with pay backs gonna be *****.

i found my pet albino rat dead when i was about 5. it was my turn to feed him.. i thought he was asleep with his eyes open.

but for an unusal way, my friend knows this girl whos pet goat essentially hung itself by winding his rope around and around the pole he was tied to, then falling off a small height without any slack in the rope =\

My little sister bought an adorable baby bunny at the fair once. We named him Peanut. He just kind of died three days later. The same thing happened to her friend's rabbit.

All of my 5 fish were eaten by an albino frog. He's been living for 8 years now, I once didn't feed him for a month and he kept on living. (No, I did not starve him intentionally, it's a long story that I'm too lazy to type. <_<)

I had a kitten that stayed on my back porch and one night I heard a commotion. I went out there and a Dog was throwing his limp body around like a play toy. I shooed the dog off but the damage had ben done and the cats neck was broken.

My mom had a monkey back when she was a kid, she said it was evil, crazy little thing. When they left the house, they would tie it up so it wouldn't destroy anything. Well, once when it came home, it had got it's cord caught, and fell off a table and hung itself. What I find funny is, it didn't climb up the damn rope. It's a fuckin' monkey!!!
