Mortal Kombat 9 Shao Kahn

I have to say this, i fucking hate shao kahn in Mortal Kombat 9, he is cheap and fucking annoying, the asshole just does the same moves over and over and does some serious damage, his X-ray move takes off 52% of your health! There's no real strategy to beating him, i just spam the same projectile move on him or get behind him and uppercut, that's it. He is frustrating to play against!
I know he is hard because he is the last boss but God he is annoying, did they have to make him like that?

Other than that though, great game.

Not only does the bastard have double health, not only does the bastard have double damage, but they also decided to give the bastard limited invincibility on most of his moves. What fuck?! I actually never bother when I have to fight him on story mode, just switch the difficulty to the easiest setting. He's so damn cheap I don't feel the slightest bit of guilt.

Guys guys GUYS you are doing it the hard way.

You're actually trying to fight him? Sure that's one way of doing it, but requires you to be a decent raiden player.

Alternatively you can do it the EASY way. Only attack when he taunts (raidens torpedo attack goes across the screen fast enough to hit him from the other side) and otherwise just keep your distances, he will occasionally throw his hammer but jump over those (blocking or ducking wont work)and voila, with this method I can win rounds almost flawlessly despite being a crappy mk player.

Edit: Just had a lingering doubt, what difficulty you trying it on? Ain't played story mode any higher then normal.

Okay, keep in mind I agree that he's a cheap bastard, but he does not get invincibility. It seems that way because he doesn't react to the hit (like getting launched, tripped, whatever) but if you watch his health he IS getting hurt.

The best way to beat him is with someone with a teleport. Raiden/Kung Lao/Smoke/etc, every time you see him gear up an attack or start a taunt, teleport over and get em!

I hate him with a fiery passion. He usurped Seth's position as Supreme Emperor Bullshit Magician. I want to beat his designers in the balls with a sledgehammer for their insolence. If you have to overpower a character that much to create difficulty, you fail as a designer. Period.

That said, I can rape the shit out of him as Ermac when I'm driven to the level of lunacy it takes to want to fight him.

Oh, and Goro can suck a fat mule dong as well. He's nowhere near the bullshit magician that Shao Kahn is, but he's still a prick.

I fought him in the arcade ladder normal mode, won with johnny cage. After that i tried with Noob, got soo pissed i stopped playing on normal altogether, i just play on easy or beginner now. I really wanna punch the designers in the bollocks! I've been trying to beat him with raiden in story mode for a while now, no luck with that. I really, really hate the bastard.

he's hard in arcade ladder at normal mode...but really ridiculous when you fight him with raiden in Story Mode. I restarted probably over 50 times...-_-

I beat him with a flawless victory in Story mode after 4-5 attempts, but there is no way to take him head on.

As long as you keep your distance, he will taunt you more often, and that's your cue to jump in and Uppercut. Takes a bit of time, but that's how I beat him with both Kang and Raiden

Have fun with challenge tower 269.... seriously. Three Shao Khan's in a row. Honestly I find Goro worse. but you fight three of him in a row too.

Shao Khan is easy. For defeating him with Raiden in story mode, just follow this cheap strategy.

This method requires a lot of patience since jumping in will leave you vulnerable. Stand back and play defensively by blocking or ducking to avoid his projectile attacks. When he throws the hammer, teleport behind him and get in the best combo that you can. After that, get away from him and repeat the process until he's dead. Occasionally, he will taunt you. Use this to your advantage.

The developers intended to make Shao Khan an infuriating character, and because they were too lazy to come up with a move set for him.

Great game i really do love it, its the most fun i've ever had with a fighting game.

But they made the bosses cheap as apposed to difficult.

I agree, Shao Kahn is WAAAAAAY more annoying than Seth ever was. At least with Seth, I could actually beat him FAIRLY. I can only beat Kahn (KAAAAAAAAHHHHHN!) by spamming projectiles.

Please MK devs, please re-adjust his difficulty in a patch. Pretty please?

Even better, just try to jump over him. You have to do it at a certain distance however, otherwise you open yourself up for either a hammer or a spiked shoulder in the face. That's not good.

Anyway, you jump over him, he'll most likely do some sort of anti-air attack. Thing is, if you timed/positioned your jump correctly, he'll be left with massive frame disadvantage. This is your chance to go to town on him. Repeat ad nauseum.

If he taunts, well... no explanation necessary.

Shao Kahn's not impossible nor is he terribly broken. He's just one of those bosses where you have to exploit the few weaknesses he has, and they just happen to not be obvious. He's nowhere near as bad as back in the 2D games.

Well i have not played portal 2 yet so i can't help you with that but mortal kombat is an awesome game, the story is great and there are many things to do, challenge tower, arcade ladder, tag team, tag team arcade ladder, fatality tutorials just to name a few. if you are looking for a great fighting game, this is the best of this year

I've played them both and it really depends on which one interests you more. Do you prefer a fighting game over a puzzle game? I personally liked Portal 2 over Mortal Kombat because Shao Kahn is so incredibly difficult and he alone made me stopped playing it. I went out later that day, bought Portal 2 and I haven't played Mortal Kombat since.
