Shao Kahn is difficult but if you keep your distance and keep firing projectiles at him he will be defeated quickly. Considering how difficult Azazel is in Tekken 6. I consider the fights with Shao Kahn to be easy.

Plus, Shao Kahn is one of the main antagonists in the Mortal Kombat universe. He has to be difficult to beat for him to live up to his legacy.

making him hard, and making him cheap are 2 different things, the AI in MK has ALWAYS been about bullshit tactics,(false difficulty as i call it) and not a legitimate challenge with AI designed right, just to show the MK people still half ass their jobs

Well I won't be playing it then. I've never been good at fighting games, so if fighting games experts have trouble beating the final boss, I'll never be able to.

For the past half hour, I've been trying to beat this asshole with Stryker. I've not won a single round. I'm reminded of how much I want to beat the shit out of his designers.

If you choose Tag Ladder in the fight options it is much easier to defeat Shao Kahn because even if he defeats one fighter you still have another fighter to defeat him.

Edit: I forgot to mention that it does not matter who defeats Shao Kahn. If you pick Stryker first and another fighter second you will see Stryker's ending even if the other fighter defeats Shao Kahn.

Well if you're playing the PS3 version of the game, you can use Kratos and spam the golden fleece on all his ranged attacks. I have beaten him with Scorpion though, which is a lot more fun/frustrating. I do agree he is way too cheap though. However with this being my first Mortal Kombat game(I wasn't allowed to have the old ones when I was a kid)I absolutely love the game, cheap bosses aside.

That is if you could get past Kintaro/Motaro respectively.

Man I could get through everything in that game until I reached those two. So much time spent trying to beat those guys and then Shao Khan after was just rubbing salt in the wound.

Even the greatest games have flaws... I'm not saying MK's fantastic, but every game has issues.

OT: I didn't have that much trouble with him. I just moved away to a certain distance, where he'll taunt quite often. It makes him perfect projectile bait.

I hate him with a fiery passion. He usurped Seth's position as Supreme Emperor Bullshit Magician. I want to beat his designers in the balls with a sledgehammer for their insolence. If you have to overpower a character that much to create difficulty, you fail as a designer. Period.

That said, I can rape the shit out of him as Ermac when I'm driven to the level of lunacy it takes to want to fight him.

Oh, and Goro can suck a fat mule dong as well. He's nowhere near the bullshit magician that Shao Kahn is, but he's still a prick.

there are 2 options for fighting him in the campaign as raiden, you can let him rape you until he becomes incredibly stupid (no difficulty change) or just wait until he throws a hammer and teleport behind him and do b3,1,2 superman until he is dead. i chose the latter.

You win this thread. I was going to say this but you already did. I remember back in the day i was playinf mk 2 ( i was a child then ) and the one time i almost beat him the toasty guy appeared ( cant remember his name ) scated me silly , i ran outta the room so fast , and shao khan beat me .

Nice to know that my words provide some level of amusement.

Looking back, though, I feel I spoke far too soon. After playing Mortal Kombat almost as much as I've played the Street Fighter IV series, I've long been at the point where beating Shao Kahn was amazingly easy (without pulling cheap bullshit myself). Seth is still nut-crunchingly cheap, though. He gets his title back, no question.

Mortal kombat 9......2 thumbs down. The cpu blocks too much and they predict every move i make. Shao khans a ***** and the levels of difficulty. The designers should go fuck themselvez for releasing this unfair fighting game. Its so frustrating.

I remembered why I hate playing fighting games. I played Story mode from start to Final boss starting at 5pm. Snapped the game disc in half and threw it away at 1:30am after going against an extremely unreasonable boss.

I consider myself a "veteran" MK player, and while he's a tough SOB he's beatable, you just gotta throw the right combo's together and get out before he smashes your face in. I've beat him with Smoke, Noob, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden and Kitana.

In order of difficulty to beat him with said characters (1st being easiest):

1) Raiden
2) Kitana
3) Noob
4) Sub-Zero
5) Smoke
6) Scorpion

He's cheesy but not impossible.

If your character can teleport, use it like a mofo. When he taunts, let him have it. And - the most difficult one for me - fight the urge to block when he throws that damn hammer, as the bloody thing is unblockable.
