Definitely KotOR II - it took oh-so-long to get your first lightsaber, and lightsabers are oh-so-awesome that you can't stop before you get it.

The first KotOR game was a lot better though - I feigned sickness and stayed home from work to play. For me, that was pretty much the perfect gaming experience, and I can play it over and over again without ever losing interest.

Same here! Once you have a lightsaber your so goddamn happy :p its just... 'WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' then you kill shit...

It's a tough one. With Fable I kept saying "just one more quest" so often that I beat the game in a single sitting (it was a short game so I'm not sure this counts for much). I did the same with freelancer and beat the game in TWO sittings when I was deployed and averaging 14 - 16 hour shifts (without a day off). I missed more days of school because of MW4 than any other game. Mirror's Edge kept me playing from beginning to end without any significant break (in spite of it's repeated attempts to break my will).

In short, there are been too many to really count I suppose. If pressed, I'd have to vote for tribes as I spent my last summer before employment playing that game 11 hours a day 7 days a week (how I managed to accomplish that I have no idea)

The escapist... must post one more time... one more thread...

Seriously, probably Fallout 3. There is always another mountain to climb and another skull to smash in.

Ceasar 3. I've played much better games, but the first city sim I sat down to play hooked me for half a year. Was pretty scary, actually.

Farcry 2. I played it in class, during lecture. In medical school.

EDIT:

You know what, the most, absolutely MOST addictive game I have ever played is Crimsonland. For those of you unfamiliar with it you're a guy in a field with a gun. Aliens come. You do the obvious. Absolutely brilliant fun carnage and without any story at all it's amazing fun, I have put enough time into it to beat it all the way through on Hardcore, and dammit that's hard.

hmm. I need to redownload that game don't I?

Definitely oblivion. other hot contenders include GTA san andreas and Fallout 3. I tried WoW a few times but I found it to be boring as hell, i cant see how people get that addicted to it.

The boring, obligatory answer is World of Warcraft. That game set my life back a year or two.

A less mainstream answer is System Shock 2, pulls you in and won't let you out. The game demands to be completed.

I never could get addicted to WoW; I just got bored too quickly to stay with one character, let alone the entire game.

However, the games to which I keep saying "just a little bit longer, just one more mission/quest/duel," are Armored Core (PS1), Mabinogi (PC), and DuelMasters (PS2).

If I ever get the chance to do it, I want to beat Xenogears in one session, only taking short breaks to grab food, stretch, and curse the inefficiency of the human engine. I'm still kicking myself for selling it.

Final Fantasy Tactics and its Advance-series spinoffs
Morrowind and Oblivion (and soon as TES5 comes out it'll probably be on this list)
Rome: Total War
The Sims 2
Mount&Blade (a game that makes hours pass like minutes)
