That does it. I am now going to the Steam Store and buying that game. I just keep hearing good things about it.
Quite curious phenomena, as a platformer is quite average, even subpar, and yet as a game it's amazing.

Don't find it addictive at all though. I would go with Unreal Tournament, yeah, i love both single player and multi player UT.

Yet another vote for Mount&Blade, Warband specifically.

I do believe I've played it more than any other single player game, but I'm not sure.

Final Fantasy Dissidia. Story wasn't much, but got really caught up in the gameplay, and the endless questa and game modes made me neglect my responsibilites on more than one occasion.

Civ V. It's the only game I tend to play these days. I love it soo much, I play it 4 hours a week!
Since when playing something 4 hours a week or even a day is beeing addicted?

No offense but looking back at Might and magic 6-8,Heroes 2-3,Diablo 2,Oblivion. I was spamming 30+ hours
sessions 2-3 times a week. Today with age i rarelly do that anymore but it did happened when Mass Effect came out I finished it back to back twice.

Fallout 3, i keep coming back to it once in a while, just to advance on of my playthroughs,
or start another to randomly screw around.
Just wander around for hours, killing, stealing, redecorating my place with Nuka Cola trucks.
....sweet single player bliss.

Well if it's not something churned out by Bethesda, mainly Oblivion. Then it's definitely something by Maxis, playing sims is like a tube of pringles.

Either Minecraft or Oblivion. Probably oblivion, because I've had it for about a week now, and according to Steam I've played it over 70 hours, whereas I feel as if I've hardly played it at all.

New Vegas: over 72 hours on my first playthrough (so far, setting it aside until Lonesome Road (DLC of the year?) comes out.

Bioshock: 22 playthroughs. I counted. Assuming that each takes me 10-12 hours (I like to take things slow), that's roughly over 220 hours sunk into that game.

Other games that I have put a lot of time into:
Red Dead Redemption
Halo: Reach
Oblivion
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

I know it is all too common for online games such as MMOs and multiplayer FPS to be addictive. But, what single player game have you played that you could simply not put down? What made it so addictive?
Diablo I and II, the Soul Reaver Series and the Civilization and Europa Universalis games. All titles I keep coming back to for variety of reasons but above all because they are awesomely addictive in their own ways :p

Dragon age. It's got that MMO sort of feel when it's always "just one more quest and I'll turn it off.... wait a minute, why is it dark outside?"
