An oldie for me, Shadow of Memories.

The first time I completed that little bastard of a game I got the ending where

I've stopped my own death form happening, via some bizarre time travel paradoxes and such, and I'm happy just to be alive, so as the cutscene plays, I lie down on the ground, looking at the sunny sky.

Except that I'm lying in the middle of the bloody road. And some mardy git runs me over.

After all that. I sold it soon after in frustration.

Yep I got this one too! I couldn't even be bothered to play through for the other endings but luckily I had only rented the game so I hadn't wasted my money on it.

I haven't played it for years and it doesn't look like you can pick it up anywhere now.

The game that really made my balls ache was RE4. I mean, it was good, but it didn't have anything to do with the previous games except Leon and Ada. They even throw in a guy with a combat knife and say "Oh no, he's back!" but we've never seen this a** before in the series. Then our hero drives off on a jet ski at the end... presumably all the way to the USA...

Going back to the ancient Genesis there's the game Chakan The Forever Man. The game has two endings, the easy mode ending, which spits in your eye for winning, and the hard mode "true" ending... You have one shot to beat the game to get true ending, and you have to play through the whole game again if you don't do it. And then when you beat it.....

Another "hilarious" old game with frustrating endings: Darius Twin.
"Congratulations, you win" or "Congratulations, your planet explodes anyhow" or "Congratulations, you wasted around two hours of your life" or "Haha, you lose so hard it's embarrassing!"

Though I think the most annoying game ending ever is Guitar Hero 3's. "Congratulations, you beat Satan, have some more Dragonforce."

If you played it all the way through I would have to say it would be the hemorrhoid that was Two Worlds. The ending was so fucked up that half of the voice overs were missing. I wish I was lying!

Plot is hardly resi's strong point so callin it on that is rather meaningles. And i'm not sure if your joking on the jet ski thing, but I'd say he drove to the mainland where those two get a chopper out of there (hopefully wolf in tow... just because.)

Seriousely, what the hell was Bethesda thinking? Why not make the mutant go in? Or the ghoul? Or the ROBOT? Or even just let you take a shitload of Rad-X and wear a radiation resistant suit so you can survive?

I actually did that, I took loads of rad-x and used a radiation suit until I was taking practically no radiation poisoning. I still died though (well, according to the dlc I didn't). The dlc made no sence, "But in the end the kid from vault 101 did the right thing and saved his friends, he will be remembered. Oh wait, he's not dead, NEVERMIND!"

The ending to Dragon Age if you romanced Morrigan was annoying, incredibly well done, but annoying.

I actually respect Bioware for not putting in a happy resolution to the whole Morrigan thing. I doubt this is the last we have seen of her though.

Halo 2 was quite irritating however due to the primary focus being multi-player, my vote goes to Fable II, which relied upon some aspect of a story; that in all told honesty, was worthless. The ending only served to cement the disappointment.

The Matrix: Path of Neo - after you beat Agent Smith, all the other Smith's tear down buildings and create a Godzilla-like Smith, that is impossible to beat (although the game was so laggy and full of bugs that I, eventually, beat him)!

But the most annoying ending to a game, for me, is Half-Life 2: Episode 2...not that there's anything wrong with it. It's just that the ending was so brilliant, followed by the news that Episode 3 will be probably see the light of day in 2011!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!
