On top of how insanely long they are, there is a loading screen for the loading screen.
If that isn't redundancy, I don't know what is.
Are you joking? Please tell me your jokinf.
I don't remember that (mind you it's ages since I played that game, like 7 years.

The loading screens in and around The Strip in Fallout: New Vegas. Who had the idea of putting several small areas so close together without the ability to fast travel directly where you want to go? Sooooooooo much loading....

I didn't mind the elevators. The airlock, on the other hand... It doesn't take very long to get tired of hearing "Decontamination in progress".

As previously mentioned, Mass Effect 2 has a wee bit to much loading going on..

Especially the loading onboard Normandy..

But the worst game is Fight Night round 4, every little thing you do you get 2 mins of loading, and that for a little boxing game.. Devs should be ashamed, should have been able to make that game entirely without loading screens imo..

The thing that bothers me about that is it can potentially be the only loading screen you see while on a planet or on the citadel station (provided you don't use the fast travel system). I love the elevators because they make the experience feel continuous and also provide an opportunity for some inter-squad dialogue.

I wish they had used that decontamination room just to load the ship interior, then have the airlock open. If that was the case, you could go from the presidium to the Normandy drive core and not see a traditional loading screen.

Any, really noticeable, load screens. I don't really get those, because I play games exclusively on PC.

The load screens in Dragon Age: Origins were quite annoying. And more specifically: when moving from a larger area to a much smaller one and vice versa, like going to a building in Denerim.

It's an obvious screw-up by the makers, as the larger area could easily be kept somehow preloaded, as you won't be spending long times inside the buildings and those could just as well be included within the same area. Instead it's like moving to a completely different village. And the "load screen" is just pitch black silence for a few seconds, so it feels all that much longer.

FIFA 2011 has absolutely the best load screens with the 1-on-1 against the goalie scenario, that you can play. It's one of the best things in that game.

Longer load screens should allow to do something small, and not necessarily even anything that interesting, while it's loading. But by no means should it add noticeably to the loading time.

Mass Effect 2. With all the loading the game has to do, what moron thought lime-green and orange was a good color combination?

Uncharted 2. When you launch the multiplayer, it's sometimes got a loading screen on top of the original loading screen.

You'll notice the black screen and purple bar before each proper loading screen.

EDIT: My bad, the person cut out the loading screens between levels. Here:

Dragon Age: Origins, since my game suffered from an incredible memory leak. Loading would take 2-3 minutes and the game would almost eat up all my 12 GB RAM. :(

A thousand times this. Every time I learned that a mission would require me to go to Freeside and potentially open Some Doors I'd go and put the kettle on.

Deus Ex:Invisible War.

Granted, the loads weren't long but they were fucking everywhere in comparison on how small the maps were.

Before I even loaded the thread I was already thinking the same thing.

Dragon Age: Origins had horrible load screens, that also took 9 million years to load.

Neverwinter Nights. There's loading screens pretty much every two steps. Every building has a 3 minute long loading screen, and some buildings are so large that they have loading screens in when going into random rooms THAT HAVE NOTHING IN THEM.

Mass Effect 2's. It's a set time on PC. If you want stuff to load at the actual time it should, you have to disable them.
agreed, Mass Effect 2, no contest, hell I didn't even play the 1st mass effect but I liked the idea that Bioware tried to hide them back then considering loading screens are almost universally hated and sometimes your squadmates would even have conversations with each other. No idea why they changed that(though if I'm going out on a guess it'd probably be how impractical elevators are in the future when they just go slower when stairs are more efficient(but then then again I'd rather see myself going up a ridiculously slow elevator than stair at the schematics of me going up a ridiculously slow elevator))

GTA III, the interruption screen between islands was a real flow breaker.
