The end of Fable 2.

You spend all this time getting ultra powerful and you finally make it to the end AND

you shoot/hit the guy once and he dies....
....i want my time back.
I'd have to one-up this and just say Fable 2 in general.

Titan quest: Big climactic fight, you just barely kill the titan. And then:
Jack all
yeah, it was slightly stale, could´ve used Zeus appearing during the speech or something.

Illidan
Kael
Vashj
Kil´jaedan (he only got banished, but still)
C´thun
Yogg-Saron (if you´ve been inside the 3 visions during his fight, you would know)

Halo 2, it just ends abruptly on a cliffhanger. That pissed me and quite a few other people off.

End of Halo 3, Halo Wars, TimeShift, Crackdown, a lot of different games either didn't end it in a memorable way nothing really explosive you saw it coming. Just wondering what the ending was was more entertaining then the actual ending.

The end of Knights of the Old Republic 2. So much build up througout the entire game, so much relation-building and characterization of your party members. And then... No closure. Nothing. Zip.

I am still hoping that the TSLRP will one day be released so I can see what it was meant to be like. But until then KotOR2 tops the list for me.

The end of MW2.

I was all tensed up at those final moments and it just promptly ends with no real ending whatsoever.

Man it was a real killjoy for me.
What, it was a cliffhanger and you get to throw a knife into some rogue General's eye socket. Ain't that enough for you till the sequel comes?

Come to think of it, now Infinity Ward's jumped ship, I really wished they'd put more in the Single Player campaign.

Yes, it is, WoW died to me the moment they decided to kill Arthas and make him the raid boss....WHY!? Blizzard WHY!?

Borderlands:

You beat the endboss and it drops a smattering of greens, maybe a blue if you're lucky.

Starfox Adventures:

You reach the big bad of the game, get ready for a rock hard boss fight, and all of a sudden, bam, he drops dead and it's boring old Andross again, and it's the same fight as Lylat Wars

Fighting Dracula in Castlevania : SotN

At that point you either have the Crissaegrim or Muramasa and they shred through enemies like butter.

Then you fight Dracula and you can beat him in under 8 seconds.
Where were you standing when you fought him? Were you on the floor or the roof, cause i have noticed a lot of people miss the second half of the game! (the Inverted Castle)

Farcry 2. Seriously. It sucks

You go in a building full of people and kill them all, then YOU die. It's crap.
Another game people seem to miss the ending in.
if you died in Far Cry 2 you didn't get the goode ending... and there IS a goode ending.

Isn't the inverted castle in Harmony of Dissonance? It's been a while since I played SotN, so I might be mis-remembering, but HoD's the only game I recall using that gimmick.

Interesting that no-one's mentioned an actual anticlimactic experience, just anticlimactic scenes...someone must have had a "...I did all that for this? My starting pistol was better! etc etc" moment...

But Andross is more fun than a barrel full of monkeys!

And I agree with the Borderlands thing... Except that the ENTIRE ending was bullcrap. Not just the craptastic greens, but the boss in general. Really, a giant monster? Lrn2getbettersendings. I sold that junt.

Red Steel 2

You beat the final boss then there's a really brief cutscene where you're character finishes him off then turns and walks into the sunset...The End

Although saying that it did kinda fit in with the whole B-movie western vibe but it was still a "What that's it?" moment

Also the endboss itself:
Everyone's looking for treasure and tech and what's in the Vault but an alien vagina with tentacles... worthless

Um... I have to say that Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands came out today, and NO ONE NOTICED.

When I bought it this morning, it was shoved in the back of he store where it would easily be overlooked unless you were actually looking for it. And I've seen or heard nothing about it since...

Maybe I'm being a little whinny, but It's part of my favorite series! And the game itself is actually pretty good! (even though my feelings for Ubisoft and Sony are... well, less that good.)
What's the game like story wise? The Sands of Time is one of my Top 5, but I hear TFS lacks a lot of the great narrative that SoT had - especially with no Farah. And apparently they hardly even link it to SoT or WW (which, being an interquel, one would have thought would be the point).

I don't need spoilers, just a general comment if that's okay.

OT: I disliked the Assassin's Creed ending, as it just stopped, but didn't tell you it had really stopped. AC2's ending was handled much better, and still managed to end on a cliffhanger.

Saboteur, they pulled a Castlenvania 2 thingand had now enemies once you reached the Eiffel Tower until the final boss which wasn't even a fight.

Also Gundam Crossfire had a lame ending. A goon horde mission followed by a screen of text with a background. The Zeon side got the worst of it, since despite winning, you still lose.

Ok...

I'm only half way in, but I find the story pretty engaging. And I have to disagree with what you heard. The Prince's old personality before he turned emo is back, and they captured it well. He's always making off hand comments that have me in giggles as much as Sands of Time did. And they manage to get a similar chemistry to him and Farah going, except it's with his brother instead. Though, his brother doesn't last very long...

And no, they don't tie it in much with SoT, except for a few comments Princy makes every now and then. ("Why is it ALWAYS sand?" or "This reminds me of Azad...") But it does have lot's of the same mechanics ("Stay there! I'll climb up to you!") that were all over SoT.

So it's a pretty good game so far, except they screwed with the controls a bit and it takes some getting used to... and I miss the combat in WW and TT... But I will say no more! You go play it for yourself before I let anymore spoilers slip out!
