Nah man, Dances with wolves was the original rip-off.

This takes the cake:

I actually saw all of it, because i was curious. Not recommended.
"Snakes on a Train" and "Alien vs Hunter" come to mind.

I never saw any of them though and I aint planning to do so.

First thing I thought of when I saw the tittle of this thread was Eragon. I was going to rip it a new one in my post because I hold so much anger towards that series. But then I was ninja'd. Good show pal!

I wonder how this series managed to become so popular despite the complete lack of originality?

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition was a complete ripoff of The Witcher.
*sniff*

I don't really have much on my plate here, do I.

On a more serious note, I always found the Zerg in Starcraft to be a massive ripoff of the Tyranid from Warhammer 40K

Probably the Great Giana Sisters

The strange thing is that the Great Giana Sisters got a remake on the DS.

Eragon is ludicrously derivative. From the Razac/Nazgul, to the Star Wars storyline, to the Pern-esque dragon bonding (the earthsea ancient language magic thing, the bad guy is your father/the guy you think is your father actually isn't... The list goes on).
The urgals/Beastmen were quite cool, but were then thoroughly fucked over in the film to just become a different race of humans.

Despite that though, the book series somehow keeps drawing me to it, possibly just from a desire to see how it ends. Despite the fact that every time the author says it will end, he attaches another book to the series...

Avatar, I guess. One example is that they took the Grandmother Willow from Pocahontas among other things.

I knew I've seen those space marines from Starcraft at my local comic shop before...lol. It's especially bad when the view from a tabletop is the same camera view in Starcraft. really similar when I think about it.

I was so disappointed to find that the new goldeneye my brother had just spent £60 on was a shameless rip off of call of duty. Terrible, terrible game.

While the Asylum getting mentioned here is no shocker, I'm slightly more surprised no one has mentioned THIS:

its already stated but i want to say it again: quantum theory.
normally i would never say that a game ripped off another game, but this one is just too... much. i hate it when people say that a new game is a ripp off from a generic game like god of war or something, because that one was good and now everything that resembles the 'superior' game a bit is a rip-off. i disagree with that, but quantum theroy..... that was just copied 1 on 1. system is the smae, reloading is the same and much more.
