I've never stood in line, but I have a good preorder story.
I had a preorder for Spore for so long that the card I used to preorder it with expired. It was such an ordeal to keep my preorder and change the card, I ended up just cancelling it and ordering somewhere else. Then I played the actual game for 7 hours and gave up.
