One of my ex girlfriends. Nearly lost an arm, and something else too...

In all seriousness. I live in England, so I don't see many dangerous things.

While swimming in some shallow reefs I reached out to pick up a shell and accidentaly touched a sting ray, (it had been buried and concealed withen the sand)I quickly moved my hand back right before it tried piercing me with its barb and swimming off. That thing scared the hell out of me.

I've also come across :
a white crowned snake
a black bellied swamp snake
Both of which I found in the same area, right in front of me, and both of which my dad hit and killed with a shovel.

I got seriously about 6 inches away from then face of a wild moose....what they can be dangerous. Don't look at me like that
Also got fairly close to a bear cub once, wasn't worried about it, more about the mama that was surely close by.
A moose is plenty dangerous. If you get too close the moose will do one out of 3 things:
1: Run away
2: stand there looking stupid or looking at you like you are stupid
3: attack
The 2 first are more probable than the third option, but the size of a moose will at the very least grant you some serious harm. I haven't traveled much so the most dangerous I've seen in the wild is a moose. I once ran into a flock of 3. I ran the opposite way as fast as I could.

-Brown Bear
-Black Bear
-Possible Grizzly bear(didn't get a good look, but it was having fun smashing that tree.
-Moutain Lion/Puma/whatever you want to call it.(3 times)
-All sorts of snakes, including rattlers.
-Wolves.
-Coyotes.
-Lynx(dead and frozen, though).
-Mosquitoes(No, I'm serious, I totally did see one!).
-Scorpions.
-Spiders(black widows, brown recluses, ect.).
-Jumbo squid(dumbest, angriest creature to ever swim this earth).

And now for the grand finale, the most dangerous one of all:

A buck during mating season. >0__0<

P.S. I go camping and hiking a lot.

Most dangerous?
Probably a bull moose during the rut or a black bear with her cubs.
Pack of wolves might be up there too, but they're usually not dangerous to humans.

I live in the U.K. the most dangerous animal we've got here are other people.

Ninja'd.

Okay, well, I suppose the most dangerous thing I've come across was a wild rat. It's not really the rat itself that makes it dangerous, it's what it has on it. Fleas, diseases, fecal matter, decomposing materials. Stuff like that.

To answer the OP directly, yes I have lived in Africa, and I have gone on a few safaris (You guys are dangerously deluded if you think you will anything but snakes and mbe some monkeys where ppl live. Unfortunately I got enough questions when I got back to Europe to lead me to believe that most people are that deluded).

Dangerous animals I have seen (National parks, but at least there are no fences. Except a few to slow down poachers):

-Hippos (The biggest cause of large animals killing humans in Africa. Saw a pair fight once, kinda scary)

-Lions (Duh! Very lazy, just big cats really)

-Crocodiles (I got to hold a baby by the mouth and tail, it was cool. Lots of rivers n lakes where you just can't swim, cause you'll get eaten. There was a story of a girl in a different school who was canoeing and got grabbed and killed by a Croc)

-Water Buffaloes (Saw a HUGE herd once, hundreds of them, we had to stop the car and wait for them to pass.)

Elephants (Not very aggressive, but you will stand no chance of survival of one decided to charge you. Horrible story of a wife and child getting trampled.)

Some snakes, but can't remember which ones. I don't think I've ever seen a Black Mamba, but possibly a Puff Adder (Top two most poisonous, I think)

I'm not sure if this counts, but the animal that causes the most human deaths throughout Africa is the Malaria Mosquito. And while I have never had malaria, I've seen plenty of mosquitoes in Africa.

While on vacation in Colorado one year I ran into a cougar.
Had a colony of migrating bees rest in my backyard once.
Almost got bitten by a 200lb rabid dog last year.

I got bitten by a redback a month or so ago, and I didn't die. I was at work and it was hiding under my desk.
It hurt lots and lots.
I squashed the little fekker, I guess he hurt more than me.

Being a pomme in Aus it was a nightmare come true, but in the end some ice and a bit of a rest cured me. I was wondering if the Aussies tell you they are scary to keep everone else in the world away, because from what I have seen of Australia it is bloody beautiful, paradise on earth!

I've seen:

rattlesnakes
coral snakes
wild hogs
bob cats
deer (these are apparently dangerous?)
bonnet head sharks
black tip sharks
alligators (some over 14 feet)
black widow spiders
brown widow spiders

Of these, probably the most dangerous was the rattlesnake, which fortunately is quite uncommon around here. The coral snakes are more common and more venomous, but they have these tiny little fangs that are easily defeated by a good pair of shoes. The alligators are also quite dangerous, but they tend to leave you alone as long as you stay out of their territory, and don't mess with them -- especially during mating season. Never get between a mother gator and her babies. Beyond that, wild hogs can be pretty dangerous, but again, if you leave them alone, they leave you alone. That tends to go for everything on the list.

Some giant snake thing. Seriously thought it was a green log until the guide poked it and it shot of faster than I could run (i'm not that quick but it was seriously fast) certain that if it had been hungry any of the group I was in would have been dead in seconds.

The wild African Dog.

Fuckin' scary pieces of shit.

In 60 seconds, they took out a warthog and had it's almost all of it's organs out.
60 SECONDS! Think about that!

2 or 3 dogs, took out a Warthog THAT fast?

I'm going to go cry in the corner now.

Few funnelwebs, whitetails, redbacks etc, though they didn't mean me any direct harm at the time, whereas that fucking wombat...

FYI: For those not entirely conversant with Australian fauna, the wombat, while looking cute, it behavoiurally akin to a tiny enraged mack truck with a territorial streak and an ability to feel no pain. Thing nearly headbuttet through my shin after I'd repeatedly (defensively mind you) kicked it in the face as hard as I could with steel-toed boots. Anything that tries to kill you by bludgeoning you with the area you just tried to kick through with steelcaps is bad frikkin news imho...
Holy FUCKING SHIT.
I am NEVER.
EVER.
Going to go near a wombat.
AGAIN.
