Hardrock, thanx. I have been trying to figure out who sings the Hallelujah song forever!!!
Leonard Cohen actually released the original in 1984, his version was on the Watchmen soundtrack.

I prefer Jeff Buckley's though )

EDIT: I agree with Hurt - NIN, add Sober by Tool and Fade to Black by Metallica (also a suicide song I believe).

Actually, Jeff Buckley is one of the many people who's covered the song. The original composer of "Hallelujah" is Leonard Cohen. Just thought you oughta know :D
Damn, you beat me to it :eek:P

I'm having trouble seeing how hallelujah is sad, maybe I just don't get it, could someone explain it to me?

you saw her bathing on the roof
her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you

he falls in love with a girl...

I've seen your flag on the marble arch

...worships her...

but remember when i moved in you
and the holy dove was moving too
and every breath we drew was hallelujah

...filled with the rapture of love...

but now you never show that to me do you

...but she no longer feels the same...

well, maybe there's a god above
but all i've ever learned from love
was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
it's not a cry that you hear at night
it's not somebody who's seen the light
it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

...and now he feels completely dis-illusioned by the concept of feeling and love.

listened to Leonard's version, its pretty good too, but I like Jeff Buckley's. you can hear raw pain in is voice when he is singing. are there any other good versions of this song?

"Draw Me" by Sonata Arctica, there is no aspect of that song that is not depressing.

Wow, I must have heard the shortened version, almost none of that stuff was there when I heard it, what version is that?. Thanks, by the way
