Abysson from Tales of Symphonia
had more health than any enemy, including the final story boss, had the strongest weapons, which I had gathered and could not be stunned

Wiseman from Baten Kaitos Origins. Holy shit was that boss hard.

Technically speaking, it's not a 'required' boss you have to face to beat the game, but if you want to get the right ability to face the final boss, the Wiseman fight is the way to go.

Not only do you have to fight a massive Black Dragon before fighting him, with lots of health and devastating attacks, but once you're fighting Wiseman, his every attack saps a significant part of your health and a resource analogous to 'mana,' which determines how many attacks you can use per turn.

And he's got plenty of health, too. And if you can't beat Wiseman in your current state- if you need to level up or somesuch- be prepared to load a previous save and do the fight with the Black Dragon THEN Wiseman all over again.

I barely beat Wiseman in my last save. Just barely.

I'm never fighting him- or her, or it, it's not really clear- again.
Seven kinds of THIS.
Except he's slightly eclipsed by the Semi-final boss if you managed to beat Wiseman. Who's less hard more tedious as fuck.

Oh, Arhiman in Nocturne. He has an attack called "Tentacle" I'll leave it there.

King Allant, the (for all intents and purposes) final boss of Demon's Souls. Because he hits fast and like a truck, is unkitable and undodgable and has a special attack that delevels you and makes you unlearn your spells. Permanently. Not so good for a magic user character like mine who ended up without his damage spells and had to go through a 30 minute long extremely dangerous sword sparring session with him, that could end at any given second with your throat slit and 5 more levels lost. This is the only boss that I can think of where, if you fail too much, you basically destroy your character and have to start the game all over. Good thing I manned up on the third try and managed to beat him with some pretty fucking awesome flawless playing that I didn't even know I was capable of. That's Demon's Souls for ya.

mother fucking lou I played him on medium because I played medium since 1 and now playing on hard would be like asking me to jump off the empire state building and survive but that fucker expected me to play the devil went down to Georgia survive the most frustrating solo known to mankind and still survive with enough energy to beat his ass while using the mother fucking ORANGE button I'm sorry but when did medium get an orange button with out the difficulty up power up being used in battle. oh and I am not the fucking flash so don't expect me to be able to make my fingers move 30 miles a damn second.
Really you thought that was hard? I beat him on hard the first time I tried it. Raining Blood now that's hard.

As for my contribution to the thread, I'd have to say Gungrave: Overdose the stage 4 boss is an ultra ***** can't remember how many times I died trying to kill it but damn was it hard

then there's the part that isn't even a boss fight but in stage 6 there's an elevator part and you've gotta kill wave after wave of enemies with their rockets and machine guns that eat through your life and shield too damn fast I rage quit about 5 times before I made it past that

Then there's the stage 6 boss damn is he hard even with all the time's I've played through the game he's tough

not boss but bosses and it was the 5 judges battle in FFXII: international zodiac job system

those guys are smart enough to not attack you when you are in reverse status and instead throw elixirs killing you ._.

hardest fight in any FF game.

I would definitely say the Chaos boss from Final Fantasy 12. I'm not sure if that's his exact name or not, but you guys know who Im talking about right? He's hidden in the back of this secret cave, and it takes about 30 minutes just to find him. You fight the hardest enemies in the game while going through the cave and there is NO SAVE POINT before you fight him either. Even though my characters were on levels 90 and above, once you damage him until he only has 25% health left, he does this super retarded thing where he becomes invincible to Physical and Magic attacks. After you die, you have to start from the cave entrance all over again, it's bullshit, I almost broke the game disk in half because of him.

I looked up the strategy online for how to defeat him and it basically said - You have to use a limit break chain that finishes off all of his health before it drops below 25%. That's so fucking stupid because if you mess up your chain, you die and have to fight him all over again! I fucking hate you FF12! I'll never play you again. Worst game EVER.

Hmm... Maybe Hag 1 from Banjo Tooie. You can use regenerating health or invincibility cheats I guess but without them its incredibly hard.

I have several realy annoying bosses, let me list them off.
Faith from Red faction 2, you know the one with the sniper who you can only kill with a sniper, and you have to fight like 20 zombies before you got ONE bullet for the rifle.
That sniper chick from MGS1, because I had it for the ps1, and the ps1 copy was on two discs, so halfway through the battle you had to change the disc, them you were out of the flow and died, so you had to change the disc back again, and so on.
Metal Gear from MGS1

The boss from level ten of Sheep, Dog and Wolf. I had the PC version of this platform game, which controls badly with just wasd. Basically the boss is a bright red furball wearing basketball shoes, who will stomp on your ass and then kick you into a lava stream. I have not beat him to this day.

Only boss I ever remember that I couldn't beat was Maya from Parasite Eve 1 on the top of the Chrysler Building. If you don't grind up to past lv38 to break the exp curve and level to 60+ I'm pretty sure it's impossible. She's got a metric ton of health, and every 10k health she gains a new attack on her mega chain of death. And if you ever use your powers at almost any point, she'll heal for X x2. Which X being the previous heal, starting at 10k. If you screw up once, she keeps the new attack, but will still unlock another part of the death chain attack that's almost impossible to avoid after it reaches link 6. And she has a base health of like 200k. Literally impossible unless you super level, so your damage goes from like 100 a shot to 1000 a shot.

I eventually beat her a few years later after doing PE2 on Nightmare (that's goddam hard FYI) and vowed to kill Maya, as no Square boss had ever challenged me before like that. Broke the level cap like everyone suggested and ta-dah, easy as pie.
