Probably Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, most recently anyway.
It was partly because Ezio's story never felt properly wrapped up, but it was more because of the monumental cliffhanger. I was all "Wait, what? No, no, you can't just end there! Naww!"
Well, I guess it served it's purpose, they've definitely got another sale out of me for the next game.
I too expected something different:

Like Ezio actually dying or something, would be the best way to wrap up his tale
In a way he probably did.
When Shaun tells Desmond that Ezio's love interest Cristina dies of phemonia, so that scene where she rides away after you rescue her, will be the last time he sees her.

OT: I remember when Final Fantasy VII first came out, before al the Advent Children movies and spoofs, I thought that ending was lame. For years I was convinced that it was all for nothing and the world blew up anyway.

Far Cry 2
after shooting all your buddies and every other notable character in the game, your two choices are to blow yourself up, or shoot yourself in the head

What a twist!

Seriously though, although I didn't enjoy the ending so much, I liked it. It was very bittersweet at BEST, and it made about as much sense as most of Eleanor's abilities, but those being taken as a given, I felt it was pretty good. I never expected Delta and Eleanor to run off into the sunset together, given the nature of their bond, so I had been very curious how the story would denouement.

Bioshock, not because it was bad, but because it was an ending. I loved that game... ;_;

All of the endings on Super SF4.

I know I shouldn't have expected much, but I still hoped...

The original Rayman and Crash Bandicoot for the same reasons: insanely hard, little pay-off (though Rayman more-so since it barely had an ending at all)

Also Final Fantasy Tactics: understandable, but so depressing

Yuka's ending in Crescendo.

It somehow hit the sweet spot between "too long to not affect my suspension of disbelief, not long enough to give me closure."

Any game that ended on a cliffhanger and didn't release or even announce a sequel to wrap things up ,right now only half life 2 episode 2 comes to mind.

Which ending? I thought a few of them were actually pretty good.

OT: Red Dead. The ending was disappointing because, well, you know, I didn't want it to end that way, was a kick in the teeth.

Resident Evil 5. But I thought that whole game was disappointing. :/
I'm gonna use this now in this thread and I'm also gonna save this quote for when the next "most dissapointing game" thread comes along. I didn't think it was possible to ruin the resident evil storyline anymore... then I played THAT GAME O_O

Kings Quest 8.
A very short video of some flowers blooming is not the way to end an epic journey.

Man, Valve are pissing me off so much with Half Life right now. I thought their big announcement at E3 would have been Episode 3, but all it was is that Portal will be on PS3. They seem to have totally forgotten the series in favor of Left 4 Dead and Portal.

Fable 3, mainly because everyone hyped up the whole being king thing, then the end felt very rushed and the actual last battle was anti-climatic and lame.
This. It was a major piss-off. When I beat the boss all I could think was "is it over? Really?".
This.

Final Fantasy 13 .
And this.

Fable III because, like everyone says, great game and then the ending was just "Wait, it's over?" I was all set to replay it with a different character, but every time I think of that ending, I lose the urge. FFXIII, compared to endings of the other games in that series, was a joke. No closure, no resolution, and if anything, the people are in just as much, if not more, danger than when the game started. Nothing accomplished.

I agree. Only way they could make up for it now would be if Portal 2 ended at the start of Half-Life (2) (Episode) 3.
