Christ yes, the "bird is the word" gag was annoying, as was Conway Twitty. Prom Night Dumpster Baby wasn't funny, but then they turned it into a musical moment... urgh.

Possibly the funniest moment was either the breakfast machine, or "should I conduct with the penis?" The latter you could see coming a mile off, especially with it's set up, but it was delivered so perfectly I still laughed hard.

I pretty much hate every time I hear music coming on the show. The only good music was the "Three Peters" three tenors gag. Just the fact that they turned Peter's asinine laugh into music was funny.

But I have to admit, I liked "Surfin Bird". The song itself is horrible, but people's reactions are great, from Stewie frantically trying to prevent the cycle from restarting to Mayor West's reaction to Peter's PSA.

"Impossible! Run the Tests again!"

Hmmmm

Quagmire engaging in necrophilia for laughs, Stewie losing his original character, the amount of people obessessed with Lois, the knob jokes with Chris, the continual beating of Meg...

It used to be a funny show, but as the awards came in, they forgot about the deeper meaning and went to have a gross-out Simpsons ripoff, with random throwaways.

Used to be very good, now it may as well have canned laughter and be called "The World's Blankiest Blank".

Occasionally funny, often just uses shock value instead of jokes, and South Park does that with a story as well.

everything, Family Guy is an abomination and must burn!

I seriously just find it very not funny.
as we like to call it here, in arrogant Europe "those silly American's with their simpleton humor"

The most tasteless one was:

a japanese man, in 1945, gets a parking ticket and says: "how can this day get any worse?" yes, i thought it was rather distasteful.

I have to say I enjoyed the half-dead fat guy eating the fat guy.

Really though, family guy is in the same boat as south park for me. If I'm bored, and one of them is on, I may watch, otherwise I don't really go out of my way to see them. But it's been that way basically ever since it got picked up again after the original cancelation.

Also, I disagree with the hate aimed at the surfing bird bit. It was funny, and the build up for Peter's, "And to think, none of this would've happened if someone hadn't STOLEN MY F***ING SURFING BIRD RECORD!" was great.

On the episode "Three Kings" where they do parodies of Stephan King movies and they do Stand By Me and start talking about River Phoenix dying and Richard Dryfus is doing the voiceover and says, "Now, we're just left with a hair-lipped reminder of what could have been." Then they show a picture of Joaquine Phoenix and play goofy disapointed music in the background.

That was disgusting and I couldn't stop laughing.

As for unfunny parts, Conway Twiddy. Who the hell thought that was funny? It wasn't funny the first time, why would it be funny if you play it for 5 minutes?

Conway goddamn Twitty. At least get Johnny Cash or somebody good. It went on for almost three minutes. I went from a rabid fan to really not caring if I saw the show.

The bit where Peter sells Meg to whatshisname...mort? anyway, they all drink some medicine thing, and spontaneously vomit for like 3 minutes...i found that hilarious yet extremely disgusting :p

The worst gag for me was the fucking 'Bird is the Word' joke! That got old the moment it was done and how the hell could it be funny? the fact it went on for most of an entire episode as well.

Family Guy jumped the shark for me then.

See, maybe it's just me, but I loved those jokes the first time around. They made me bust up laughing, mostly because I wasn't expecting it. Granted, I can't watch any of those episodes again, because it's a little funny when they start the joke, but after the ten second mark I get bored and want to watch the rest of the episode (God bless you, TiVo!). But then, I think they still have funny episodes now and again.

OT: I'd have to say I don't think I ever found it funny when Peter breaks the fourth wall. Anytime he looks at the "camera" and says something, it just falls flat for me. I think Brian or Stewie may have done it once or twice, and I either found it funny or it didn't bother me, and even when they toss in the fake announcer ("Will younger viewers get this Soap reference?") I usually find it funny, but when Peter does it (for example, in The Bird is the Word episode, when he turns to the "camera" and starts singing angrily, getting in close with it), it just annoys me.

The one that immediately came to mind when I saw this thread was Peter, one of the times when he crashes his car. He ramps off something and smashes like 20 parked cars, climbs out and says something along the lines of "Wow, this is just like that thing with Matthew Broderick... except noones dead"

For those who don't know [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Broderick#Auto_accident_in_Northern_Ireland], Matthew Broderick went into the wrong lane and killed two women. From everything I've read, he wasn't drunk, he wasn't necessarily being negligent, it just sort of "happened".

After I heard that joke I changed the channel. Kinda made me sick.

Honourable mentions:
Making fun of Michael J Fox, re: parkinsons

As for just flat out not funny, I would have to say when that giant lizard jumped out of Tyra Banks' mouth [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP4PrnxcM2A]. I loved season 1-3 (watched em on tv back in the day), tried to stay optimistic through season 4, and finally after suffering through the rest of season 5, that moment made me change the channel. Aside from a few random episodes here and there, I haven't watched a post season 3 episode since then.

Wow, that was a long reply.

My favourite scene in in Family Guy is The Dance Of Life.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVf4RMKY8Bs

My least favourite scene is that damn Conway Twitty music.

And the scene I find the most disgusting is the 'Who Wants Chowder?'

For me personally I hated the 'wheres my money' scene when stewie beats up Brian. I really cant watch it and don't find it funny at all.

That is also known as filler. Things you throw in to extend the length of the show because there isn't enough plot.
In games it's backtracking and in books it's the six page plot description disguised as "telling what happened".

Personally, that's also why I hate Family Guy. It's just not funny with all the filler in it especially when the filler is all I remember from it.

The worst scene in the whole of Family Guy so far has to be that one where Stewie is in the cinema, and an actor says something stupid, so he goes right across the USA to get to him with a stepladder and punch him. It was about 5 times longer than necessary and boring as hell.

Conversely, the funniest bit ever has to be Adam West's cat launcher.

"Come here Paul...HAH Paul, what a name for a cat, it's a persons name! -starts laughing-"

Haha! Yeah, Adam West has to be the best thing about Family Guy.

"Oh my God, I love this song, and I love it when amateurs sing the lyrics, but I HATE baseball cards!"

The "prom night dumpster baby musical" without question. Least funny after that would be, well, pretty much any other musical bit, or the cuts to Conway Twitty, and most disgusting after that is hard to say because I have the nagging feeling I'm forgetting something, the raccoon mauling in the porta-potty-style outhouse is definitely up there, as is the "vomit everywhere" scene, both of which I thought were pretty funny.

Mind you, just on a random side note, probably the funniest thing I've ever seen on family guy has to go to that bit where the guys were talking at the bar, then Peter mentioned something about Scrubs constantly doing cut-aways, then Cleveland said something along the lines of "I hate it when shows cut away to random crap" and then it just cut away to a shot of Hitler on a unicycle juggling fish to the tune of whimsical carnival music, almost pissed myself at that.
First part: I liked that because like many people I occasionally enjoy seeing people in pain and that communicated really big pain to me just as well as if he was screaming. Second part: that was great, but what was better was that they actually had a plan for it.

I still have no idea who Conway Twitty is, so I'm gonna go with that. Also, any time they use specifically American pop culture references. I only found out who Matthew Broderick was in this thread, as an example.

And then later in that episode, Peter came onto screen and kicked the unicycle out from under Hitler. Uh, who's Conway Twitter?

Nothing really, family guy is a show that knows it's limits, South park on the other hand.

Then again, the least funny bit, would be everytime, Peter makes a joke that starts of with this line. "Do you remember the time that I...." It's funny sometimes but then it becomes repeative.
