I really liked Walter Sullivan from Silent Hill 4, particularly when he wasn't actively chasing me. If you look through the peephole in your apartment door (the door is mega-locked and you can't open it) you sometimes see him passing by or doing something indefinite. Once, he just walked in front of the door and stood there, staring at the peephole and smiling. I found it incredibly creepy. Imagine that happening in real life, someone just standing at your door. He doesn't knock, he doesn't call out, he just stands there with a vague smile on his face.

Anyone who has played Bioshock Infinite will know what I mean by the following: You finally get that one door open, and then you turn around...

But I guess that he doesn't really count as a stalker, so put me down for another vote for the Shadow in Amnesia, since I can't play that game for more than fifteen minutes at a time, even in broad daylight.

The effing protocol droids from system shock 2 ;p hate them Hate them HATE HATE HATE. Close second would be the midwives: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LjtSogs0qM

I know the miserable droids were supposed to be funny, but for some reason, they reminded me me of almost every human resource manager I ever had to deal with, so every time I walked in to an office, THERE THEY WERE.

Nothing is more nerve racking than running around doing puzzles which require precision while fighting a few Necromorphs and RUNNING FROM THIS GUY WHILE AN ADRENALINE FILLED MUSIC BLASTS IN YOUR EAR.

Also, Amnesia monsters. Props to them, granted you can't effectively run from them anyway. But they make the situation really really tense.

Also Watson here.
Nothing scarier than a Englishman hiding in the bush. Kinda makes me wish for a modded version of slender with watson instead of slenderman....

Ulysses for the Fallout New Vegas dlc, Lonesome Road, comes to mind. You can see him stalking you, but it's a 'blink and you'll miss it' style of stalker. Creepy beyond words.

I forgot about the SA-X from Metroid Fusion. A superior foe, silently hunting you. I always dreaded when a door would open and the game would go quiet, save for those footsteps, thundering in the silence, sounding a potential funeral dirge.
*Shudder*

Ah yeah. That scared the shit out of me.

As for my stalkers, would Victor from Fallout New Vegas count? I mean he doesn't chase you, but he certainly follows you as you travel throughout the wasteland. Shame the developers didn't do anything more with his character though - I found him quite interesting.

The Lutece twins from Bioshock infinite are also somewhat stalkers. They were my favourite characters in the whole game.

Seriously. This stalker made me genuinely fear for my life more than anything else from any other game. Also one of the reasons I love Metroid Fusion so much.

im kind of surprised no one said slender man, considering how obsessed everyone was with the boogie man, i mean slender man, a few months ago. personally, i cant really think of any characters that someone hasnt already mentioned. clock tower enemies is the only game that jumps out at me. most other games at east give you some way to defend yourself, but in clock tower your only defense was to hide

This is hilarious.

Yeah, the cargo bay section where they start bursting out of their boxes remains one of the most pants-ruining moments in gaming.

Can I vote for the creepy guy who stalked me in Final Fantasy XI. Constantly calling me by adoring pet names, showing up randomly wherever I was leveling or doing events to 'check up' on me, repeatedly attempting to get my friends to spill my contact information, and so forth?

No?

I'll throw my vote at Scissorman from Clock Tower for generally reminding me why, even as an adult, I simply do not have the heart for horror games. Horror games where you don't have the option of whipping out a shotgun anyway.
I always loved the concept of the games, and I have tried to play the Clock Tower games at several points, but I always find myself getting too rattled once Scissorman comes trotting along. I steel myself through it, but find a stopping point and.. never turn it on again. Then I just opt to watch some Youtube videos of the game and feel entirely more satisfied with the outcome. Aside from some slight sleep deprivation.

Pyramid Head of course. That bastard was scary as hell, especially in the labyrinth.
When I think of running away screaming like a little girl, I think of Pyramid Head. Every time his presence became known, I found myself more and more on the edge of my seat. He really, really sucks! Which is what makes him so very, very awesome.
What I like about him is that he's never 'announced'. He never arrives with any fanfare (well, he does have a few cutscenes at first), you just enter a room and HE'S THERE. No musical sting, no closeup.

In SH2, at least.

Nemesis from Resident Evil 3. He looked terrifying, he sounded terrifying, and he just gets harder and harder!

T-rex from Dino Crisis 2. I mean, what could be scarier than king of lizards chasing you across the ocean.

Reaper from Persona 3. He wasn't really a stalker, but you were always aware of his presence and that encounter with him will cost you hours of progress.

And lastly, Dahaka from Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. That dude was terrifying! And every chase with him was oh so satisfying!

Slender Man--Slender
Walter Sulivan--Silent Hill 4
Pyramid Head--Silent Hill 2

by the way, the game with that clip of Watson looked much better than Bioshock Infinite.

THIS. Christ. I stupidly watched that first video up there and now I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to sleep tonight.

I love watching horror games. But god damn.
