One by Metallica. It's about history I think... Well, sort of. I believe it's about a book that's about the Vietnam War.

It's about World War 1, after a Russian soldier gets shelled by German artillery and he can't see, hear or smell but he can think. Hence, "DARKNESS - ENVISIONING ME - ALL THAT I SEE - ABSOLUTE HORROR - I CANNOT LIVE - I CANNOT DIE - TRAPPED IN MYSELF - THIS IS MY HOLDING CELL!!!!!".

I know for SURE that it's based upon a book though. I remember the line "Hold my breath as I wish for death". He does this in the book, but they attach a tube into his throat so he can't. Then (I forget how) his nurse manages to communicate with him. He then lets her know that he wants to die, and she kills him.
