"it's the end of the world as we know it" by R.E.M.

but if you want a serious song, i'd go with:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFubJOV6Obo&feature=related

this song is so depressing and morbid..

Closest to the original I can find on youtube, and I'm too lazy to go to other sources, but those who like Kenshin should be quite content with this find.
It's a delightful song that I related to a decent into madness, which makes me smile.

Sorry but for most epic song its got to be "Tribute" by Tenacious D. No other song can draw an entire room of people into song with everyone knowing the lyrics. No matter what genre you're into every person WILL join in.

That or "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. Again if you can get a room for of people to sing that properly and with different parts of the song appointed to different people, it is the definition of win.

Hmm..there are honestly a huge number of my favourite songs that could go here. But right now I'm going to have to go with Poets of the Fall. A catchy beat, amazing singing voice and always full of fantastic lyrics, their songs are very good. This one is a current favourite of mine:

I DON'T WANT THIS MODERN RELIGION.
I CAN'T FEEL THIS MODERN RELIGION.
IT AIN'T REAL, THIS MODERN RELIGION.
AND I DON'T WANT THIS MODERN RELIGION.

Id have to say either Rhapsody - Dawn of Victory, or Sonarta Arctica - Wolf and Raven , i could also list many epic Iron Maiden songs that would be considered epic too.

Hmmm... Can't decide...

My favorites (in no particular order):
-Mother Russia- Iron Maiden
-Bangkok/Fire Garden Suite- Steve Vai
-Metropolis- Dream Theater
-Soap on a Rope- Chickenfoot
-Borg Sex- Joe Satriani
-Glasgow Kiss- John Petrucci

It's never about the lyrics...

I guess it depends on what you consider epic. Just because you can make a song 15mins doesn't always make it epic. In saying this, the song i think of is 12mins but it tell an awesome story!

You Never Know - Immortal Technique
