Metallica - Death Magnetic (IMO their best album)
Nickleback - I love that grungy, gravelly voice he has, and some good riffs
Avenged Sevenfold
Enter Shikari
Slipknot
30STM

What bands do you like that most people seem to hate? Mine would be 30 Seconds To Mars. I agree that Jared Leto comes across as a pretentious dickhole most of the time but they make some quality stadium rock tunes. I also enjoy a little Phil Collins every now and then (the Tarzan soundtrack is genius).
I don't know anyone who hates 30SM.

Mine would have to be

Disturbed
As I Lay Dying (I've got like four of their songs)
Evanescence
Nickelback (I've got a couple songs)
Wait people hate As I Lay Dying? They're one of the most talented metal bands.
I dunno, some kid back in high school asked me what I was listening too, told me, "they're so mainstream and generic" and then told me to listen to Slipknot instead. I haven't heard anything positive or negative about them in real life since, so I just assumed they weren't terribly popular.

People hate Disturbed?
I've gotten a lot of crap over them on the internet over the years so I assumed they weren't terribly popular either. ("They're so emo" "Angsty teen music" etc)

I have to ask the same about 30STM; I wasn't aware anyone hated them. I hadn't heard of them outside of Pandora, and I was singing along with one of their songs on ventrilo one day not expecting anyone to know it, and to my surprise three people began singing with me. I haven't heard of them in my day to day life.

I know it's popular and somewhat justified, but I do enjoy a few Dragonforce songs, occasionally.

People hate on me for liking the Beastie Boys, but they are really good and Intergalatic is their best song.

Lots of old school progressive rock; I have a soft spot for Yes, Genesis, ELP, King Crimson and other so called 70s dinosaurs.

Also, I'm a massive noise head. From classic Japanese legends such as Merzbow, Masonna and Hijokaidan; through modern American no-fi noiseniks like Prurient and Wolf Eyes; to British power electronics (Whitehouse) and other early industrial types (Nurse with Wound, Throbbing Gristle); I cannot get enough noise.

To be fair, I can fully understand the haters when it comes to both those things. I still refuse to regard either as guilty pleasures.

Rebecca Black. She is the voice inside the darkness of pop

Green day, MCR, A7X and most people I know hate Muse as well.

Glenn Danzig. I've gotten plenty of crap for having a number of his albums. Btw, Deth Red Sabaoth wasn't that bad. Pyre of Souls was a bit lame, but it had a number of good tracks.

Cradle of Filth and Journey

Trust me, I get crap for both all the time
Really, you get shit for Cradle? That's weird. People kind of shrug or say they don't know who that is when I tell them I like a little Cradle now and then.

I used to be pretty into blink-182. Not because I think they're good, necessarily, but there's just something about the way the music's put together that I like. I dunno.

Also, I'm a pretty huge ska fan. The only other ska fan I know is the one I'm dating.

Hah, cool. I'd thought about mentioning something along these lines, but was figuring they'd be too niche to really garner hate in the requisite quantity to weigh in with the likes of Nickleback and Slipknot and yadayada...

I'm sorry to say that one of my most dissipointing concert experiences was with Wolfeyes and Whitehouse headlining. Whitehouse got stuck on the border (you'd think after 25+ years of this shit W. Bennet would have his work Visa sorted out) and the 3 dudes in Wolfeyes were obviously just as disappointed as the rest of us, so they got wicked drunk, put on an uncharacteristically listless and extra sloppy set for half an hour then pretty much said "fuck it" and packed it in.

We DID get refunded the tickets, but it was still a right piss off since it COULD have and SHOULD have been an amazing noize gig.

Kanye West. I know a lot of people hate him for his uh...questionable behaviour at awards ceremonies and the like, but he still makes great music.

Also, Five Iron Frenzy. And indeed most ska.

I hang out with a lot of extreme metal heads like black metallers so why it happens but they do it playfully usually

Yeah I am not into Blink-182 and ska but hey to each their own :) my wife likes some music I don't like but it's part of life

But Slipknot is way more mainstream than As I Lay Dying. That kid should get smacked!
I think a lot of the time Slipknot are just thrown out in that fashion as a means of trolling, simply because of the widespread hatred among metalheads. By way of example, I was on youtube listening to a Necrophagist song a few days ago, and made the mistake of reading the comments. There were about 3 pages worth of people feeding an obvious troll who was calling Necrophagist "Slipknot wannabes" and saying that "Slipknot created metal."

It's admittedly a less likely explanation in real life, so it's possible that the statement was genuinely meant and simply misinformed.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see As I Lay Dying catch flak from people who hate metalcore though.

I think it's crazy any metal fan would hate As I Lay Dying. I mean how is this not awesome?

Personally, I just don't like the screaming. They're good though.

Also, I really like Slipknot and I almost never tell anyone, because I'm afraid of the reaction I'll get (although I do understand, they can be pretty ridiculous).
I love Slipknot, and Silent Hill 2 is my favourite game. YE-AH!

Also, Korn and Marilyn Manson.
