I dont know, I would imagine it would matter more to the person who had to clean up then it would to the person to be killed.

A mix of sleeping pills and tension relieving painkillers, followed by suffocation (when the person is asleep). They will fall asleep, without experiencing a great deal of stress and die in their sleep. The body remains unmutilated, how can there be an any more humane death?

The guillotine painless? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

How about being alive for 6 something seconds after your head is severed from your body?
Well I assume severing the spine, neck and head rendered you dead quickly and Severing the carotid and jugular would lead to an instant drop of blood pressure to zero. This should cause an equally instant faint, followed by complete unconsciousness, followed by coma.

Seems to me that subjectively you'd feel a blow on the neck, too swift to be interpreted as pain, and you'd lose awareness a second later.
According to legend, On July 17, 1793, a woman named Charlotte Corday was executed by guillotine for the assassination of Jean-Paul Marat, after she was guillotined one of the executioner's assistants picked it up and slapped its cheek. According to witnesses, Corday's eyes turned to look at the man.

The current medical consensus is that life does survive, for a period of roughly thirteen seconds, varying slightly depending on the victim's build, health and the immediate circumstances of the decapitation. The simple act of removing a head from a body is not what kills the brain, rather, it is the lack of oxygen and other important chemicals provided in the bloodstream. To quote Dr. Ron Wright "The 13 seconds is the amount of high energy phosphates that the cytochromes in the brain have to keep going without new oxygen and glucose" (Cited from urbanlegends.com, no longer extant). The precise post-execution lifespan will depend on how much oxygen, and other chemicals, were in the brain at the point of decapitation; however, eyes could certainly move and blink.

Honestly, now... if death, especially painless death, was a deterrent for serial killers and violent gang members, half of them wouldn't even commit their crimes. If I had to those a humane execution (pff... oxymoron much?) I would pretty devise the anti-thesis of "humane" executions.

Example: Death by Sn- wait... someone beat be to that. *ahem*
Example 2: Death by Fire Ant venom... to the genitals.

I don't know about you guys, but there is one, and ONLY one, way I want to be executed:

I want Vin Diesel to walk up to me, whip out a DEagle, and shoot me twice in the head. Then I will die happily.

If you don't support the Death penalty well more power to you,but if you do what would you say is the most painless way?I'm rather fond of The guillotine,a tad messy...but painless.
The guillotine was a lot of things but painless wasn't one of them, the movies don't show the real deal. They were very unreliable and often poorly maintained, e.g. unsharpened blades, poor construction mismeasured pulleys, not weighted right to produce the force needed to severe a head. Routinely they would need more than one attempt due to these factors which could mean you get a bad hack but not a killing blow so you just kinda are there dying a pretty agonising death with your head half on. You got hanged if you were bad, you got guillotined if you were a real bastard.

Also Thallium poisoning, takes less than a second I think to kill someone with even a fairly meagre dose.

It doesn't seem to actually want to be humane. For actual humane, there really is only one way, destroy the brain stem so it's instant. For inhumane, I'm partial to the flensing.

If you ignore the moral issues of Capital Punishment and only look at the hard, scientific facts, then Nitrogen asphyxiation [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrogen_asphyxiation] is the most humane method of execution, without a doubt.

If anyone interested in the subject, British MP Michael Portillo investigated most of the methods of Capital Punishment for a documentary for the BBC, and came to the conclusion that Nitrogen asphyxiation is the most humane method.

If you can watch it in your county then here's a link to it:

If I had to be executed and I got to choose I would take a shotgun blast to the face.

I don't think lethal injections are painless, the fastest acting chemical in the mixture is a paralyzing agent, so you could be in absolute agony before you went and no-one would ever know. That is just based on what I have read so if you know more than that please correct me.
No method of human execution is humane by the definition of the word.

Probably a very large explosion, with the person exactly on top of the point where it goes off.

Bloody? Yes, but it would most likely be very quick.
