Joking aside, what she said was total bullshit, as I gained lots of English vocabulary and grammar through games like Starcraft, the Baldur's Gate series, and the Age of Empires series. All of these had me reading, listening, and enjoying the English language, which is why I easily became fluent in it as my third language.

Less excusable is the case of the Halo fanboy who said in an EB games that anyone who plays a game besides Halo is a "fag" who "doesn't have no skills for shooting".

Heres a story to perhaps pump some hope into the strangled corpse that is opinion of gamers. My dad used to take the mick out of gaming all the time, being an avid golf player he said real activities were much more worth while and that a game would never win me anything of value. When a contest on the web asked to beat a golf game onoline for some nice clubs guess who came crawling back? I made 20 quid of that to get him on the high score tables. Who says gaming cant achieve anythign NOW.
