There is no kind of Fanatic that is really pleasable by something that isnt the exact same thing as what they did like at first. Thats why everything new is just wrong to them. Fans are stupid.
Agreed. This is also why I don't get the hate on "Sonic fans". News flash: They aren't fans if they hate everything SEGA has done with the character since 2000. What, am I a Square Enix fan because I hate everything they've ever developed ever? Don't think so, not with the true definition of fan.GunstarHero said:If they're fans, they'll eat up whatever their party does.
If not, they're not fans.
Thoughts?
Probably going to have to go with this, but only over the bitching of the base Mass Effect 2. All that nonsense about how ME2 wasn't an RPG because they streamlined things so you can spend more time playing and less time melting down the piles and piles and fucking piles of useless items you picked up so the game would stop yelling at you that you're running out of space to put more useless items. If you want to spend more time not playing the game, feel free to hit pause and just stare at the menu for 10 minutes at random intervals. I, on the other hand, appreciate the new emphasis on being able to PLAY THE DAMN GAME.BodomBeachChild said:Mass Effect fans. While Bioware has been getting really dickish in how they talk to people on their forums Mass Effect fans won't stop at anything to *****. "Why did they do that? Why is this like that. Where is my old squad. Cameos suck. Fuck cause I wouldn't have done that."
They are never happy.
Haha, I do believe you have just won the thread. Very nice.Mumorpuger said:The Escapist fanbase is hard to please during March.
While you may have seen a handful of people being inconsistent in their criticisms of FO3 and FO:NV, you conclude the fanbase in inconsistent.MadCapMunchkin said:No, that's the frightening part. I'm not. lolveloper said:Nope, you're just confusing different people to be the same one.

OT: Worst fanbase that Ive encountered is the halo fanbase. You cant say a single negative thing without having em at your throat. Once asked a fair question regarding what made halo unique story wise (since I hadnt played it then), and the whole thing afterwards was just hate and calling me a MW fanboy (I dont even own a MW game, and see no relation between halos story and MWs story). After 2 pages of hate, one sane fan explained it to me.
Another is the WoW fanbase. Most are generally sane, but theres 20-30% thats never satisfied:
-Easy to get gear: "OMG free epix for noobs shit game!"
-Hard to get gear: "Goddamn grindfest of a game!"
-Class beats them in PvP: "Nerf rock! Paper is fine though"
-Fun moments in story: "Lore fail!"
The best WoW-whine is "vanilla was so much better than all the expansions!" (for those who dont know; vanilla is what WoW is called when referring to when max lvl was 60 and the game was a mess of unbalance and luck). Vanilla was ok, but mainly because we didnt know betterAll the quests were just "kill x enemies" or "get y items from enemies", nothing else. Whoever finds vanilla better than any of the expansions have a strange definition of "fun" and "balance"...
This. They are the only fan base that I've ever seen create huge amounts of rage about the protagonist's eye colour.drbarno said:the sonic fanbase, they complain about everything that happens in the games,

But it's true!!! I hate the new graphics why couldn't they've kept the old one from twilight princess?MetalDooley said:Skyward Sword - Waaa the graphics aren't realistic enoughDaystar Clarion said:Any fanboy of any fan base. Ever.
A lot of fans are self entitled, whiney bitches, and are only ever satisfied if a sequal ends up being exactly like it's predecessor.

The game is more streamlined.
"Nuhuh! It's dumbed down for the console tards!"
Character archetypes are not as important, so it's not as necessary to always have a 2 mage 1 tank set up, the same level of tactics is still required at higher levels.
"Nuhuh! It's just easier!"
The dialogue wheel streamlines conversation, making a more fun engaging conversation system.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAH! DRAGON EFFECT 2! WAAAAAAAAH!"
I could do this all day...
Pretty much. And by fan, include fans of any medium-- books and music are hardly immune, for example. There's this odd point at which someone turns from a fan "Wow, I really like this artist's/company's stuff" to "I own this series". Now, smart artist types encourage this sort of participatory feeling: for one, feedback is always a good thing. But if the artist dare defy expectations, the dysfunctional fan has this feeling of betrayal. Why didn't that artist do exactly what they wanted?Russian_Assassin said:Any fanbase, really. There will always be people whining, bitching and complaining about every single aspect of a sequel, hell even new IPs. I'm starting to sympathize with Yahtzee's idea to ban all sequels/prequels.
