The limit of x/x as x approaches zero from a positive direction is 1.

Sure.

The limit of y/z as z approaches zero when y is positive is +infinity. Let this function be f.

Then, the limit of f as y approaches zero is +infinity.

So you have two different limits approaching the same number, 0/0, and reaching two different numbers.

Therefore, logic dictates that using the limit to determine or define the value of 0/0 is fallacious, and will not come with a consistant answer.

Almost everything they teach you in high school physics. The first thing you learn when taking physics courses in university is that what they teach you in high school has been out of date since the 1940s but since most people don't need a better understand than that and wouldn't necessarily understand what we know now anyway.

Wow, I remember this happening 2 years ago, in my health class.
My teacher told us that we were starting a "drug unit", things just went downhill from there.

Also, I've had a couple of teachers who say that communism doesn't work, socialism isn't used effectively in any "modern" country, and capitalism is the most effective modern economy.

1. In reality, "true" communism CAN be kept stable (no corruption, capitalist "values"), but most likely not as a large country, maybe in a small independent town.

What about Europe? Communism isn't used here. Neither is Socialism.

How is not socialism used here? Well, ok, I have to admit I don't know about the rest of the europe but in finland one of our three major political parties is the social-democratic party. We also have the ..uh, I'm not sure how to translate this.. the Left union, a major party which "identifies with socialism but resigns from "the totaliarism related to it".

I know we have a smattering of Socialist parties here and there, but how many countries actually have Socialism leading them?

Well, Norway at least is currently led by a coalition made up of the Workers Party, Socialist Left-Party, and the Centrist Party... That should count as Socialist...

I guess you're right about that. In here the socialist ideal is a kind of a thing some young enthusiasts might make a fuzz about but in the big game they end up in the corner. We have a strong lefty underground and activist culture tho'.

I got the gist that Ares was the god of war, but he represented the brutality and barbarity of it. He wasn't a god you directly worshiped (except truly war obessed people like Spartans), he was one you feared.

Athena being patron of Athens, the big city for Greek enlightment was the goddess of wisdom, but she was a warrior goddess representing the disciplined nature of war, tactics etc.

Even in classical literature writers did cite Ares when describing or depicting the emotions of rage, blood lust and sheer brutality of war. Athena on the otherhand was aligned to the more collected and thoughtful characters such as Oddyseus. Even in non-english translations of works such as the illiad and the oddysey Athena is depicted as the goddess of wisdom, strategy and war.
Plus greek civilizations from all three major periods (archaic, classical and hellenistic) seemed to have chosen her as the olympian goddess to give offerings to regarding war.

I was spinning a globe during free time in second grade, looking at all the continents, when I suddenly realized that Africa and South America would fit together almost perfectly. It made me think about what my dad had said about earthquakes, so I went to my teacher and explained my theory: that once upon a time, the continents had all been together once, but earthquakes had broken them apart over time.

She said, "No, of course not," like it was ridiculous. Then she went on to say that the world had always been just the way it was, and would never change.

lol, i had that theory also. It obviously makes sence and if we could turn back the clock we could probably find out it was true. Actually we were once told in Geography that yes there was one big continent and that yes earthquakes broke them appart. Even today small islands are created though some are only a foot long and a foot wide but still, if you can stand on it, i call it an island (ok so i am sad but i do not care lol).
I personally think that teacher needs her head examined to teach that subject if she really believes that the world would never change. *random thought: I wonder if maybe she had some religion behind her to make her think that?*

That religion crack isn't fair. I'm fairly Christian like in my beliefs, just much less structured, yet I believe the world has been around a lot more than 6000 years and I'm fairly certain that Pangea was once a continent. We cannot know, only surmise.

The only thing wrong with any religion is the people who force it on others.

My GCSE biology teacher taught us that "anything that you out in the body that isn't food is a drug". So water, air, chewing gum and wax crayons are all drugs

I'm assuming that's what you do with stock, hell some people make a living out of buying and selling at the right times.

All stock is is an "IOU". You "own" a piece of the ompany so they know owe you money, though considering to buy stock someone else has too sell it. I guess someone forgot their brain that day, though it is illegal to trade in stocks if you have information that hasn't been released yet (for example a compahy is gonna announce it's going bust so you sell your stocks)

Probably everything I was taught in health class. A few classic claims are that tobacco contains radioactive compounds, men are 6'3" on average, and that eating McDonald's in moderation would get the same result as Morgan Spurlock in Supersize Me, because you're apparently taking in the same toxins and excesses, just at a slower rate.

Also, more of an omission, but my elementary and middle schools did not teach a difference between "than" and "then." I used "then" for everything and never got called on it or lost points for it.
