Exactly, if AD meant after the death of Jesus then the 33 years that he lived wouldn't have counted for anything. I said thats what my teacher told me it meant (after death) and I didn't say anything (i knew it meant anno domini already)
Whoever thought "Oh, that must mean after-death!" should be shot. That definition has spread like wildfire. That's what my parents taught me it meant as well.

my middle school science teacher saying that science said bees couldnt fly then following it up with a story about a couple enginers out for drinks and doing some calculations before they discovered that bees shouldnt be able to fly. First off that was an old story going around in the 60s and in all likelyhood is false, and 2nd since when did 2 engineers who know nothing about insects ever constitute the scientific community. And whats worse is this story shows how ignorent that alot of ppl can be of science, since science moves on. So even if the story was true, alot has changed since the 60s. Oh and yes I am too lazy to spell check etc etc.
Partially true actually bee's wings on there own cant generate enough down force to lift them off the ground instead what they do is beat there wings at different times which actually creates a vortex beneath them which allows them t fly...sort of.
except for the fact that, that shows that science knows how they fly and has for years, I went to middle school in the late 90s so they probably figured it out by then

i assume you're going to a religious school. in which case it's sort of expected. most private schools have religious affiliations.

if it's a public school then it's illegal and just tell him that.

your physics teacher sounds like a blowhard.
how exactly did he"prove" it was "a load of crap", when the best minds in the world working on the problem stil havent been able to fully grasp it's feedback.
(note: if you say mars is warming im going to reach out through the internet and smack you

the best scientists in the world agree it's happening & has strong anthropogenic roots.

Well everyone is equal in their rights. Well at least in America that's true.
Not homosexuals. And not teenaged girls who've been raped by their fathers (depending upon the state).
The rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Someone can take your life away, but they don't have the right to.
That wasn't even a response to my comment...

No it's not the regular flu kills 36,000 Americans now that's just Americans it kills between 250,000 and 500,000 worldwide annually, the swine flu since it was announced has killed less that 5000 all victims of the swine flu where on there death beds already the elderly the infirm and newborn children born with health problems.
I'm not even going to argue. Source it

But yeah, my math teacher was trying to teach us Americans the metric system (keep in mind this is our 9th grade Algebra teacher), and she said that there was 100 mm in a meter and 10 cm in a mm. Really, 10 cetemeters that are each bigger than one Milameter fit in to one of them, that makes sence.

Fail, she got the whole class confused and simultaniusly the whole class said "I quit", and then we walked out right in front of her. It was HALARIUS.

We've all had them before, when was a time where you were taught something in school and the teacher said it with the upmost sincerity and confidence, yet you either instantly knew it wasn't true or you later found out it wasn't true?

For me, it's a tie between when my 1st grade teacher told me the Sun rotates and revolves around the planets simultaneously with everything else, (I instantly called her out on that and I was 6.) and when my 8th grade American History teacher told the class that the founding fathers of America wanted it to be a strictly Christian nation. (once again, I instantly called him out on it and even quoted Benjamin Franklin when he said this would be a much better nation without religion.)
Did you go to school in SE Oklahoma? lol cause lol and idk everything has an opposite and equal reaction? Yeah thats a lie. Nothing can equal Chuck Norris Round house Kick
No. Tennessee. Signal Mountain TN which is an extremely repressed school that needs to be destroyed. Their bullshit Sex Ed class was the last straw and that was when I got home schooled. All it was was a bunch of stupid abstinence groups telling you about how you shouldn't have sex.
Abstinence "education" causes unwanted pregnancies and doomed marriages. Durex is your friend, buddy, you indulge in all the fornicatin' that you can!

While talking about "A Clockwork Orange" Someone said that the movie was trying to show that forced indoctrination was a GOOD thing, with no social backfire whatsoever.
At which point I thought "She hasn't watched the whole movie"
and then proceeded to correct her
:)

How to say "hello" in "African"
China was basically the same as Japan.
War was perfectly fine, as long you weren't a "bad guy."

well, I mean, like homosexuals and teenaged girls have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Even if they are raped, they're rights are equal. This didn't come out so good, but eh.

My school is pretty decent, but they still teach that there are 3, and ONLY three, states of matter. Plasma doesn't wink out of existence as soon as you enter the damn building.
Same one for me. That pisses me off. I'll be like "4!" They'll be like "Lol, stfu dumbass roflcopter." Okay, maybe not like that, but you know.

Centrifugal acceleration does not exist is one such thing. Like most questions in physics, the choice of perspective dramatically alterls the outcome. Under the normal argument, if an object rotates in a fixed axis, the linear velocity is tangential to the orbit. The object accelerates towards the center and is opposed by a normal force. If you construct the same scenario in a non fixed axis, centrifugal acceleration reveals itself.

In the end, it is the same force - and it accomplishes the same thing. You just get a slightly different picture depending on perspective.

hahahaha! Who the hell taught you?! The war of 1812 was between America and Britain, Canada just fought on Britains side.

I am still out of breath from laughing so hard because you said that. LOL :D
You realise that it was fought in Canada, with the Canadian militia fighting beside the British soldier right? And while were on the topic, did you know the Canadians sacked the white house? During 1812 we raided DC, and at one point somebody lit the white house on fire. That is why it is white; the damage was so intensive they had to white wash the walls.

Due to recent discoveries actualy, if Pluto were to keep it's planet status there are 4 or 5 other similar bodies that would have to be upgraded to planets.

My social teacher once showed us this anti-facism video which was great until it got the the end when the guy told us that religion is the cure for facism and that a lack of religion is what made the whole Hitler thing happen in the first place. My teacher actually agreed with this. I was rather shocked. The video also said that Charles Darwin was a racist. When a student who hadn't watched the video with us, after some conversation my teacher said "did you know that Charles Darwin was a raging racist?"
Here's a link disproving that:
