Most Insanely Difficult Game you've ever played

Ninja Gaiden Black. Worst first boss in the history of video games. That's my choice.

Not saying it's not beatable, just that I find it ridiculously hard.

I remember trying Dragon's Lair for the NES as a kid, didn't go well...
Other difficult games on the NES I remember are Ghost 'n goblins and Battletoads.

Oh 'dem Battletoads. I never got the end boss at this. I'm talking about "Battletoads & Double Dragon" though.

Played it on a Russian clone of the NES during my first gaming expieriences in the year 1998.

Ninja Gaiden was impossible for me to beat. Took me 3 days to pass the first boss, a week to pass the second, and I gave up before the 3rd.

Also, Devil May Cry was really hard on the hard difficulty (I know, crazy, huh?) and I have yet to pass it. The first time I played it on normal, I played for 5 hours straight and ended up with a swollen purple thumb with blisters to show for it.
