most/least favorite character of dragon age 2

so i just finished my first playthrough of dragon age 2 and decided to step back and figure out who actually was my favorite and least favorite characters of the game.
its no doubt that varric is one of my favorites but i think im giving that position to fenris instead, i hated his ideologies but he was always to character i would go talk to first when the companion quests started stacking.
my least favorite was anders, mainly because i loved him sooo much in awakening, i freaked when i first saw him, but he became so serious and angry( i blame justice) the charm was gone and to me his character was ruined

honorable mention for favorite: merril, way too adorable

Varric is my favorite by several miles (made a perfect compliment to my "witty" Hawke). As for least favorite...I'd have to say Fenris. Part of that is due to me not really getting to know him I suppose, but he just seemed so unlikable imo.

Varric was awesome.
Merrill was annoying and kind of dumb.
Anders was ruined from Awakening. I don't see why they couldn't just make up a new mage warden for this game.
Isabela was fun.
Aveline was fun, but I didn't use her as I did the same stuff as her in combat. I was also upset that I couldn't put the moves on her.
Fenris was an androgynous emo with a giant sword. Who knew Bioware was going for the FF crowd?
Sebastian was kind of bland.

Verric is awesome. He is always in my party.

Don't really hate anyone though.

I haven't beaten the game yet(since I got the Act 3 Merrill glitch and won't continue until it gets patched), but Varric and Merrill are definitely my favorites. It's a shame about Anders though, he was a much more interesting/funny character in Awakening. Other than Oghren Anders was my favorite companion in Awakening.

It was also kind of awkward when he started hitting on my character(male)... where the hell did that come from?

I totally agree, the characters in awakening where all really fleshed out and memorable, ogrhen and anders especially. I was extremely disappointed by anders is DA2.

Yeah it is, I'm the kind of person that doesn't like spoilers so that annoyed me a little bit. I'm glad I saved before I talked to her.

Isabela is my favorite side character with my favorite character being my smartass Hawke.

Aveline is my least favorite. I just don't like her design or her attitude. It was such a relief on my second playthrough when I made Hawke a sword and board warrior and never had to use her.

My least favorite are Anders and Aveline. Anders because...well..he's just such a prick. I use Fenris for DPS due to his high health and his quick cooldowns, do you know how annoying it is to have your main healer and your main DPS bickering ALL THE TIME!? I hate Aveline simply because she just doesn't approve of anything I do. How the heck am I suppose to make money and keep high friendship if she just immediately turns around and says "UGH!" every time I accept a job offer?

My favorite is definitly a tie between Merril and Varic. Just because they're funny.

same and whats so bad is beatheny is soo much more likeible then him(she would be my 3rd favoret behind the tie that is merrill and varric) i want a patch that lets you chose which sibling you get if you go mage.

I like Aveline the most, Sebastian the least. Other than that, I have mixed feelings about everyone (which is a good thing). I like Fenris' character but hate how he speaks like a deep voiced parrot. He was my third most used companion, though, so I obviously liked him in combat.

Spoiler: Major spoilers for Isabella and Anders

Isabella ditched me two-thirds of the way into the game because I wanted to return the book to try to make ammends with the Qunari and hopefully avoid a war doing so. I liked her way less after that.

My lady Hawke had a romance going with Anders until he destroyed the chantry at the end and made me look like an ass for supporting the mages. Though I feel like as soon as I went all-in with the mages, all the good, sane ones turned into apeshit abominations. I'm kinda miffed about that. They could have had at least one good one other than Bethany (I don't think Merril counts).

I'm so gonna be a dick to Anders in my next playthrough.

It's weird seeing people talk about Carver. He died very quickly in mine (because I was a rogue archer).

Just get her to 100% Friendship or Rivalry. Once you are at 100%, the bar locks and you can do whatever you want without having to worry about their reactions. God, I could extort cash from a girl scout and Aveline wouldn't raise an Eyebrow, I have her friend gauge that high.

I would if I could, but I like the Friendship buff better then the rivalry buff. It just seems so much harder to get her up that high when I haven't even beaten my first walkthrough and I don't know where the best spots are for it.
