Hope - (Equips Flame Suit - 100% fire resistance) I saw why he was pissed off, and IMO it was pretty good how square pulled off a whiny, but not too whiny thing.
PS. His MUM just died, he got turned into a L'cie, exiled from his home and he cant fight. You think you might handle that better than a little whining?

Least Favourite.

Cloud - He just seems so bland, and what they changed him into now, its like you never wanted to meet him.

FFX was the only FF where I loved every main character, that's probably why it's my favorite FF.

I don't like *Puts on flame suit* FF

The turn based combat system never really did it for me so I ended up playing Kingdom Hearts and liked that much better

I also enjoy Kingdom Hearts (even more than FF). But if you won't play FF simply because of the turn-based fighting, then give 12 or 13 a try. They're both a little turn-based still but they do a very good job hiding it. In fact, FF13 has the smoothest and most fast-paced battles of all the FF games.

I have heard that said before but I might end up renting it since Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't coming out anytime soon

You cloud wait til Versus XIII comes out, i't made by the KH guys, and also I'm pretty sure birth by sleep's the end of it.
All the loose ends have been tied up. There would literally be no point in making KHIII unless they want to destroy the good story and milk the cash cow (which could be likely), but I hope they don't make III.

Nomura (the guy in charge of KH) has confirmed that he has KH3 already planned out in his head and he plans to start it as soon as his team is done with FF Versus 13. I'm looking foward to Birth By Sleep but at the end of it there's another secret video previewing what's believed to be KH3. I do kinda feel the story has been wrapped up, but on the other hand, what did that note that Sora got from Mickey at the end of KH2 say? Do we know yet?

Anyway, I do like Sephiroth, Zell (despite the fact he can be a pain), Tifa and very few others.

You're right, most of them do. But if you feel that way about all of them, I strongly suggest you play IV and VI. Especially VI, I think you'll get along with Edgar's pimptasticness, Locke's and Cyan's spoiler-related backstories, and Shadow's "secret history".

MOST:
Celes - VI (Great caster, Runic pretty much says "screw your magic", very likeable.)
Edgar - VI (His special weapons (Auto-Crossbow, Bioblaster, Chainsaw, etc.) absolutely spank everything, likeable lech.)
Barret - VII (It's friggin' Mr. T with an arm-cannon.)
Shadow - VI (He's a great melee fighter.)
Locke - VI (Interesting character, funny, real motivation for being angsty (he was responsible for a former friend getting amnesia, she got it back and then died), once you get certain trinkets he nearly never misses Mug or Steal.)
Auron - X (The only character in the entire game I can stand, other than maybe Khimari (and that's only because he never talks).)
Vivi - IX (Who doesn't love Vivi?)
Jecht - X (He treats that whiny little no-wit Tidus like shit. And let's face it, he deserves it.)

LEAST:
The Entire Cast Of Final Fantasy VIII (STOP! BEING! ANNOYING!!)
Tidus - X (SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WON'T SHUT UP!! I JUST WANT TO STAB HIM WITH AN ICEPICK JUST TO WATCH HIM DIE!!)
Yuna - X (STOP! BEING! STUPID!!)
Cloud - VII (Dude, the chick with the very large boobs is pretty much holding a sign that says "have sex with me," THROW AWAY THE IDIOT BALL AND DO HER!!)
Sabin - VI (I hate his Blitz attacks 'cause they're specifically designed to tear skin off your fingers.)
Rikku - X (Seriously, she's 15. If this was a live-action game we'd all be registered sex offenders and you know why.)

TOP FIVE OR SIX FAVORITE FF CHARACTERS* (in no particular order)

1) Cloud. Yeah, I really dug Cloud. I dug how he started off as this sorta jerky dude, and how the game really played with the whole loner bad ass archetype (and then deconstructed it). By the end of the game he was one of the more complex characters in an FF game.

2) Balthier. This one's really all about personality. He's both the 007 and the Han Solo of the Final Fantasy universe. And Fran? You know he was hitting that.

3) Sazh. Final Fantasy needs more down to earth characters who are fully aware of how messed up all this crap is. Final Fantasy also needs more characters with baby chocobo's in their afros.

4) Lightning. This one's more a hopeful pick. I love strong female characters, and for the most part I feel that Final Fantasy doesn't write female characters terribly well. With that said... Square needs to understand that "tough" doesn't necessarily equate to "frigid" or "antisocial". We don't need another Squall. With all of that said, she earns points if only because she punched that jerkass Snow in the face (might be three times so far!).

5) Kimari. There's a part in FF10 where that jerkass villian is going on about some shit, I don't care to bother his name because I'm sure he spent an hour with a bottle of hairspray and a blow dryer getting his stupid hair just right. Before he can finish yacking on and on, Kimari just impales him. Sure, it doesn't do anything because I think he was dead at that point, but more Final Fantasy characters should take such initiative. Plus he's like a big blue Chewbacca. He'd probably rip Chewie's arms off.

Or 6) Vivi. Your story dealt with the idea of death. Real death, not that fanciful death where you're part of the life stream or a ghost or something silly. Your story dealt with very idea of no longer existing one day. I empathized greatly with your heart wrenching tale, but I think you might be in the wrong franchise dude.

1) Squall. You've got no personality. You're a wet blanket. You're also a big jerk. But the girls fawn over you because you've got great hair and wear designer clothes. I think I've hated you long before your respective video game came out.

2) Ultimecia. What the hell are you doing? Time compression? Wuhh? Where the hell did you even come from? I thought Final Fantasy was done with those stupid left field final villains who have nothing to do with anything? Yet here you are. You might've gotten a pass if you succeeded in killing Squall, but you can't even do that right.

3) Rinoa. I think you and me could've had a good thing. Instead you go for that jerk with the great hair. Sure he's a jerk and stuff but oh his hair is so NO I'M NOT PROJECTING.

4) Vanille. C'mon. You look nineteen. You act like...twelve. What the hell is wrong with you Square? Really? What the hell is wrong with you?

5) I can't think of anyone else offhand, so I'll just say Popstar Yuna.

1.) Auron (FF10)-pure badass
2.) Rikku (FF10)- Don't you wish you knew someone like her? She's so cheerful. Maybe for short periods of time at least, I could see it getting annoying after a while.

They were my favourites as well. =3 I also really liked Balthier in FF12. =3

1. Wakka! OMG. In the underwater fights, where they make you play as him, I always made him throw the ball at himself so he would die... and sometimes Tidus took a shot at him too. Can't stand him.
2. Larsa. Bleh! I'm so glad he didn't stick around long.

I really didn't like Vaan, but you specified that it did not include main characters.

Apart from 9 I haven't replayed any FF games. So I think my some of my reasons are a little bit ridiculous now.
7 - I always liked using RedXIII because when I was 9 I thought he was a lion.
8 - I didn't really have any preference for 8, the junction system meant that as long as you had 3 good set ups it didn't matter what characters you used in battle.
10 - I liked the generic attackers, so Wakka, Tidus and Auron. Couldn't be bothered dealing with BlkMagic and the like.
12 - I didn't enjoy the entire 6 hours I played of that game, so I don't really remember who I liked/disliked.

9 - I always like using Dagger over Eiko for WhtMagic which I know is a little bit ridiculous, but I get a bit nonchalant about using the characters you gain later on. Sort of like Pokemon was (perhaps still is) in which you'd get about 4 good level Pokemon, the start finding really cool looking ones about 15 levels lower later in the game. So much effort for such little reward.
