Huh, OK, what game used that?
I'd recommend you check out the full album (of course)... it's one of '09s better ones, and you'll probably recognise half the other tracks anyway.

I can't remember too many ending themes - presumably most of them sucked or were at least not very memorable, when I actually ever got to them - so it's going to have to be a toss up between FF6, FF8, Sonic CD (US version - oooh controvertial) or Sonic 1 (mainly because the blue streak was doing kareoke at the end) and Streets of Rage (haunting)... the last two on the gamegear.

Really I wasn't even properly aware the "end theme" was much of a thing any more, apart from Portal.

Bit disappointed, I figured this was for movies for some reason to look at the title. Same thing there. Can't even name too many, but of the two or three that actually come to mind (Laputa, TFTM '85, Matrix) I can have a decent stab at both singing and playing said themes. Maybe my memory's wierd. Either something sticks really well, or disappears entirely.

"M4 Part Two" by Faunts....plays at the end of Mass Effect.

Best credits song ever, if you're alright with music that isn't necessarily the theme, per se.
Three posts in and there it is, the best and most memorable song at the end of a game in my opinion.

A 'game soundtrack' thread where I'm not posting Chrono Cross? Weird.

Seconded- actually, no, M4 ties with 'Want You Gone' for me. Both were excellent, and perfect endings to their games.

Yeh, there that's one too. But as you say, spoilers. Hopefully this one will remain "pure" and not get ground into a soulless byproduct of its original self by internet, and then popular culture in the way that Still Alive did.
Frankly it didnt have the same charm has still alive did. Was it ctachy? sure. but truth be told we all expected a song at the end and it didnt stick as true as the original. i think its suffering some fallout:NV syndrome
Well, in my opinion, the first one seemed to be kinda just for the hell of it. They wanted to make it catchy and funny. The second one was more about the story and wasn't as catchy a beat. Some people might like this more because it ties into the story, but others just wanted a funny song.

Agreed.

Also, I know it's not at the end, but when you finally make it to Mexico and this comes on...

will always be a memorable gaming moment that washed over me with an indescribable feeling.

Granted the second song isn't as catchy, but that may actually work in its favour this time around. Still Alive probably got done to death because it was such a catchy little number and as such everybody jumped on it. I guess you could say each song is an accurate reflection of GLaDOS's personality in their respective games.

For similar reasons, I'm also glad Portal 2 isn't as awash with ready made memes as the first game. Thankfully...

Most memorable ending theme which is, coincidentally, the main theme for the game?

After years and years, one theme stuck in my head in particular: The ending theme of Resident Evil 3. It's just beautiful.

Then we have from one of the newer games, "Heaven's Divide", the main and ending theme of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Pah, all these new-fangled themes.
Time for some good ol' fashion... stuff.
Based on the original theme from the Robotech series <3

Only two songs from the credits of games have really stuck out to me. Still Alive (of course) from Portal (of course X2 combo!) and more recently, this:

Which game used this.

Anyway my vote goes to joint Mass Effect Credits song, ME2 Main theme, Still Alive, and Want You Gone
