thank you. you know that scene is very epic. very saddening. :'(
I personally believe the cut-scene I just posted titled "Lirums Death" from Lost Odyssey is possibly the most upsetting I have witnessed.

You don't like it...? Good for you.

Do I honestly care about your opinion on such a subjective matter...?

No.

EDIT : Why is it that people never take the time to edit out the video, it just makes the thread appear cramped.
That was easily one of my favourite cutscenes, have always found Prescott's speech to be quite rousing.

Oh, and in response to that other post that I cut out, Starship Troopers was meant to be somewhat satirical, Gears of War wasn't.

Anyway, this isn't the place for trying to pass off personal opinion as fact, so we should just leave it there.

You got that right. I'm not ashamed to admit my eyes were little moist at the end of that cutscene. Heavy stuff.

The cutscenes in Wind Waker are actually fairly epic, when you think about it.

Learning that the Master Sword was actually worthless against Ganondorf was an interesting turn. And let's not forget the incredible speeches Ganondorf can make. My favorite is the second to last one, right before the final battle:

"My country lay within a vast desert, when the sun rose into the sky a burning wind punished my lands, searing the world. And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes. No matter when it came the wind carried the same thing... Death. But the winds that blew across the green fields of Hyrule brought something other than suffering and ruin. I coveted that wind, I suppose. It can only be called fate... That here, I would again gather the three with the crests... That I should lay my hand on that which grants the wishes of the beholder... That when power, wisdom, and courage come together, the gods would have no choice but to come down... The power of the gods... The Triforce! He who touches it will have whatever he desires granted! Already the crest of wisdom is mine...(looking at Tetra/Zelda) All that remains...(looks at Link, and attacks him until Link is lying on the ground) Do not fear. I will not kill you... I merely have need of the power that dwells within you (picks up Link by wrist). Now! Let us put an end to that which binds us together!

Gods! Hear that which I desire! Expose this land to the rays of the sun once more! Let them burn forth! Give Hyrule to me!!!

...very well, then... Allow me to show you... Your future... Yes... Allow me to show you... Just what hope you have...See how much your precious Triforce is worth!"

Man, there's just too many to name, but I've always held the opening of FFVIII to be the most jaw-dropping thing I've ever seen, largely because of the soundtrack (Liberi Fatali is beyond awesome).

Recently I've been thrilled by the Left 4 Dead opening, especially when the horde is rushing the survivors from all sides and then the Tank smashes a car at them.

I loved the cutscenes in FF VII and FF VIII. These days, though, I usually find cutscenes to be kind of boring.

Definitely the ending scene of Mass Effect
Right up until the cheesy shot of Shephard staring off into oblivion?

As follows from KotOR:
When you discover that your character is actually Darth Revan (as if you hadn't deducted this from a few obvious clues yet).
It's amazing. I've never felt so awestruck and satisfied from a moment in gaming ever after.

The microwave tunnel in MGS4. It is mostly a cut scene all you have to do is tap triangle. It was absolutely fantastic the epic music the split screen showing snake in terrible pain whilst his friends held off the enemy... fantastic. There are many great cut scenes in the MGS series but that one was truly brilliant.

For emotional impact, probably from Tales of the Abyss.

The aftermath of Luke accidentally destroying Akzeriuth. Including him finally being put in his place for simultaneously being a stuck-up, immature asshole and a whiny little *****.

For sheer, physics-defying insanity, Dante's aerial motorcycle-fu in Devil May Cry 3.

When the leg of the ship came crashing through the window I actually stopped breathing for a whole ten seconds until he emerged from the rubble.
Again with no spoiler boxes people... but yes this was a completely awesome cutscene and it made me jump up and down like an excited five year old.
