Am I the only one curious on how you all know about bands that 'nobody' has ever heard of?

I'd think by definition these bands would never be found because the moment they are found them somebody has heard of them.
I'm sure your taking it too literally. Its just a thread about obscure bands who have yet to be discovered by mainstream.

I go to a few blogs, and I look at my last.fm recommendations.
Yeah I didn't use an emote but the idea was to be a smug smartass kind of comment. Hopefully whoever doesn't read THIS post about THAT post will see that post and think I am ;).

Also one of my all time favorites is Shai Hulud (yeah, like the sandworms from Dune).
I SO FREAKING HATE that someone else thought of that band name before me. :(

And mine is Boards Of Canada.
Huge band.
Not where I come from. So they are incredibly obscure.
I'm from South Africa. :D
Alright. And what is the significance of that? They're still obscure where I live.
Just poking fun at the fact that I live in a place where Western culture barely touches and yet I've heard of this band that is obscure where you live. (Where is that, btw?)

I would say, but then you'll have heard of them and my obscure band doesn't need that kind of publicity...

Lawnmower Deth, they arose from the mid 80s British thrash metal scene, and decided what metal needed was a really stupid band just singing about lawnmowers and vampire snooker players and sumo rabbits, and generally bringing a bit of cheer to a bloody miserable and angry genre.

Part of the reason I loved them is that they never allowed a lack of talent to get in the way of a great gig!

They're probably most "famous" for their cover of 'kids in america' by Kim Wilde:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJz6_PEu6Iw

This is about as sensible as they get for original material:

A sample of their work would be the classic 'You've got no legs, don't come crawling to me' which was just the title repeated four times with a tune behind it, a typical 'track' was about 30 seconds, heh.

Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly.

They have THE BEST BAND NAME EVER.
Not exactly 'obscure', Radio1 were playing a few of their songs a hell of a lot last year.

Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker, never met anyone who has ever heard of them before.

Painface is another one I don't actually think many people have heard of. The band the original lead singer of slipknot created. And 2 of their songs are featured on the 'Mate,Feed, Kill, Repeat' album. Probably not very well known due to their rather strange style + the fact their album is about as rare as rocking horse poop.( as far as I know, there are very few remaining copies of the original CD out there, one of which I found on Ebay last year. And the album doesn't even come up on a majority of the torrent sites)
