If the collectors originate from beyond the omega 4 relay... why the hell can't they just stop them coming through it. A few turrets would shoot the crap out of their ship if it came through it. Even better idea... blow up the smegging relay itself. No more collectors or worst case, no way back and a rampant angry ship.
I know it may still cause problem what with a human form reaper still mid-built and possibly finishable, but noone knows that until right at the very end so it wouldn't even occur to them.
