In DragonBall Z Budokai (i think, theres been a billion it seems) the characters would do some huge slow haymaker which had to connect to do there super awesome death move. Except Brolly, who just knee'd his opponent in the bollocks instantly. My friends hated that.

I was at the final boss on Torchlight as the Beserker, and I had been maxing out my favourite move for most of the game. It did shit all to the bastard, so I tried out one of the higher tier moves the next time I levelled up, the aptly-named 'Devastate'.

It died on the first go. Now, with a tiny mana cost and a massive damage, it is literally the only move I use.
ohh yes torchlight. Such an unbalanced game. iirc each class had about one ability which was so pointlessly good that you stopped levelling anything else, and ideally planned your build to only spend points on it.

The alchemist had his giant face melty death beam, and the vanquisher had that explosive shot ability. The later was ridiculously exploitable due to the range on it, as you could often stand outside a room and annihilate everything inside from offscreen, being safe from harm
Great game though, right? Can't wait for the sequel this summer :D

They'll probably balance the five classes better, too.

The second version of Vanitus in Birth by sleep is a pain in the arse, he teleports all over the place most of his attacks kill you in 1-2 hits even if you have maxed out your character.

the pistol in alpha protocols feeling pretty op right now. usually you have to pop out of cover and point the pistol at someone for a little while without shooting to line up a critical, but i got a perk that lets me line up that critical from cover. Then i realised you can blindfire the pistol critical shot and it goes dead on, so i can one shot kill bad guys with a headshot without ever exposing myself to danger.

Then theres the ability to freeze time and line up three seperate shots with the pistol that i have. Did i mention i have a silencer on this?
I thought you could do 5 shots?
I specifically remember killing every boss with a slow motion armour piercing 5 shot critical hit to the head.
Fun times.

League of Legends, Mordekaiser's ultimate...60% of my health gone with one attack? Fuck off!
I think you might be thinking Karthus there. Morde's ult does barely 500 damage.

Though Veigar can one-shot squishy characters if he's farmed enough.

Pure AP Morde can hit up to 80% of the opponents health with his ult, it is really op actually.
I'd say Amumu's is one of the most OP spells, LARGE AOE SNARE. Combine that with a largely AOE team (Veigar, Brand, Katarina) than again, it's not too OP by itself. Played a game with some friends, where I went balls first into team fights (Activate my cry, bandage toss, ult and spam my E) If my team was there, I just got 5 assists, If not, I ran back and waited for 60 seconds or so.

Also, Morde's ult is a DoT and it doesn't cut healing any, so it's not too great if you have any resistance. A lot of people at my Elo have yet to realize how much one tank item can shut down a champion (won't save you from 5 of them, but even just a negatron cloak can make you take 20% less magic damage.

Whenever I ult with Morde I almost always ignite at the same time, that solves most issues.

OT: Another overpowered attack that I've seen is Demi, half health no matter what.

Pretty much any attack that leaves you staggered and gives them time to attack you again before you can get back up. Both Lost Planet games had enemies like this that killed you before you could get up.

in final fantasy x2 there was a type of monster that when it was killed would fall on one of your characters and instantly kill them and the attacks it's unavoidable plus around the end they appear all the time

Surpised this hasn't been said as often as I thought but the Hadouken in MegamanX, It 1hits any boss (except the final boss) its easy to do and the only draw back is that you have to be at full HP. Not full HP? take some sub-tank, they can be refilled and can be taken with small about of energy stored
In the sequel MegamanX2, there was the shoyuken which although is still a 1hit kill however it was hard to hit with

The problem with this is you can quicksilver it away.

Same to you. QSS ftw.

OT: I agree with the guy who mentioned Malzahars Null Zone. Failing that I would go with the Drain Health spells.

Yeah that was the downside to that spell, it didn't let you loot the body afterwords. Which is why, except for a few fire elementals, I only used it on the Bane of Kree because he pissed me off. I was apparently too "good" for him.

OT: The Alchemist's spell from Torchlight that Yahtzee referred to as "Giant Laser Beam Face Melty Death." I can't remember what it's actually called, I haven't played Torchlight in awhile.

Scarab Gun from Halo 2.

A great example of how Bungie makes brilliant easter eggs, and how ridcoulsy powerful video game weapons can be.

A couple of fighting game bosses come to mind. First of all Jinpachi Mishima from tekken 5, his most basic of combos could drain so much health and on top of that he had a demon laser beam that came out his stomach that could destroy half of your health and it's really hard to dodge (pretty sure you cant block it). Also Shoa khan from mk9, he constantly spams his charge attack and it does so much damage and don't even get me started on his hammer throw which cant be blocked and stuns you and he will usually throw another one to stun you again and finally throw a spear(or another charge). But I can't complain much, his hammer throw is easy to jump over and he's slow as heck. When you jump over him, he's still facing the other direction executing his move and you can hit him with a strong attack like an upper cut or a hard hitting special move.

seriously, that thing was like bringing a death star to a knife fight.
Damage was astronomical, but so was the loading time, and you were pretty much a sitting duck. But in terms of power, you're absolutely right.

It still does 40% of their health right of the bat so QSS only get rids of the rest of the damage.

OT: Ballistic Fist from Fallout: NV, one shot everything with 100 unarmed

The Eyelander + Targe 'n' Charge.

A critical hit (which, a good player can do easy with the Targe) can inflict a wopping 195 damage, enough to instakill close to every class at full health. Plus, the head gained from the kill makes the Demoknight faster and harder to kill.

true, but with a simple button combination right after you fired the shot (switching to certain other combat styles and switching back to mirabelle) you could reset the loading/cooldown animation and thus fire about 2-3 shots a second. of course you needed the boosted focus to support the large drain of that thing, but it wasn't really a problem.
