when i first read "blade runner" i thought blasphemy! but tbh after reading what you wrote i think you're right. being a cult classic shouldnt exclude it from scrutiny. i guess thats the entire point of this thread though...
Thanks for the understanding. Any films you not really a fan of when in context of the thread?

Titanic, I didn't see what all the hubub was about.
Essentially this. The movie was exceptionally dragged out, tedious and the characters were incredibly annoying. It could've been better, but it's not horrible, just probably the most over-rated.

There Will Be Blood. It was so long and so boring. It was like watching a documentary only I wasn't learning anything.
Hahah. I liked There Will Be Blood simply because it was SO bad. I dont know if that makes sense, but yeah.

Oh and I love "Life Is Beautiful". I don't recommend it to exactly anyone, but I loved it personally.
Dont get me wrong, it's a good movie, I just dont feel it deserved that oscar win.

After watching it I spent two hours calling every friend who told me the movie is awesome.

WATCHMEN.
Nothing like reading a novel you fall in love with, hearing a movie is being made about it, and that it will do a great job at following a book only make me feel like an idiot when I went to see the movie at midnight.

The Kill Bill movies are, in a word, sucktacular. I really don't understand why they are as critically acclaimed as they are.

My vote definitely goes for Napoleon Dynamite.

Constantly quoted, "Vote for Pedro" shirts everywhere, people always talking about it (even repeating entire scenes). So, naturally I wanted to see what all this was about...and I was blown away, by a massive cloud of steaming...nevermind. It needs no explanation.

It won an Oscar? I didn't know that. I think it would deserved one, but I understand your point.
Yep, it won best foreign film, best music, original dramatic score and best actor for Roberto Benigni. It was also nominated for directing, film editing, best picture and best original screenplay, which all seems kinda excessive to me.

The Departed, can't believe it won a fucking oscar! It's a remake and not half as good as the original (Infernal Affairs).

Funny, you know that Ralph Bakshi actually regretted rotoscoping it?
That makes me sad, I love the look of that movie.

Throwing another trilogy out there:

The Matrix

Death Proof could have been better I mean it was supposed to have been a chase film but all they did was talk,
It was a Tarantino movie, his speciality is irrelevant but entertaining dialogue - What did you expect? And just try to argue the chase at the end was short and boring...

From what I understand about holywood politics, it was a pity oscar to its director Martin Scorsese. He had put out far better work in the past but had been denied any awards from the academy. People were beginning to build momentum behind the idea that many other people had been wronged too, and that the Oscars were outdated. People who could actually change things.

So much like US politicians threw Obama at us to keep everyone quiet, allowing them to carry on as they pretty much always have, the Oscars chucked a pity Oscar at MS to silence critics and naysayers. Yes, that is just part of my own personal opinion. I'm a pretty cynical person.
