LOTR series. All three films were average, not the worst films ever made, but certainly massively overrated, especially among my friends, and I hate lying about liking that film. However the films were much better than the book, which were very boring and unreadable.

Harry Potter series. Very overrated, felt more like a mass produced money making machine than a film. The books were much better then the film, probably because I read them at almost the same age as Harry Potter was in each book. :p

300. I was not impressed by the this film, although I'm a big fan of this film noir style like in "Sin City" and Max Payne. In comparison the 1962 film "The 300 Spartans" was much better. That blew me away with the storyline and the heroics.

The Most Boring Fucking Case Of That Dull Twat Benjamin Fucking Button!

Like Forrest Gump (not perfect but totally watchable) but with it's head stuck up it's lifeless arse.
Aww..see...and I was gonna say Forrest Gump was the most overrated movie I'd ever seen. (I saw it for free, and I still felt robbed. I hate it with the fiery passion of a thousand suns...)

*Plans to spend a lifetime avoiding coming into contact with Benjamin Button*

I might get shot over this, but the Godfather and it's subsequent sequels. I was in high school, and all the faux "movie buffs" were always like, "you haven't seen it? It's the best movie ever." "It's like the perfect movie!" To that I refer you to my middle finger.

Oh and while I'm at it, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" sucked. The black knight scene was funny, but the rest of the movie is crap. So, you know, suck on that.
You are right. I have to dress up like a mafia henchman and shoot you with a tommygun for that... And then I'll insult your father and mother with their smell, and animal-likeness, respectively ;)

The Dark Knight, particularly regarding Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker. It was by no means a bad movie. It was actually pretty good; just nowhere near as good as Batman begins and hardly the amazing film that people were making it out to be.

As for Ledger as the Joker, he was depressingly bland. The Joker had no personality or charisma, he was just a garden variety villain; and the nasally voice Ledger gave him kept ruining whatever shred of the real Joker I saw in him. This is supposed to be the definitive Joker that everyone talked about? I've seen almost every incarnation of the Joker: in the comics (under various writers), in the Adam West series, Jack Nicholson's portrayal, the 90s animated series, etc. Out of all of those, Ledger's version was the first I'd seen that would just be any other criminal if he didn't have the makeup and scars.
I understand where you are coming from, But I have to disagree on the part where you said"Out of all of those, Ledger's version was the first I'd seen that would just be any other criminal if he didn't have the makeup and scars."
I'm sorry, but I do not know many other villians who get bored on some days and decide to fuck up the whole of Metropolis with just a few drums of oil and a match.
Also, Batman begins and TDK is the dark version of batman's story.
ANNNNNNNNNND, I rather liked Ledger's performance because he Got into the mind of a deep and darker joker which I love :)
But opinions are opinions.

Shawshank Redemption, while it is a perfectly fine movie, in the end it was too "feel good" for me to hold in any sort of high regard.

LOTR

Now the roto-scoped LOTR animation movie from the 70s? Classic!
Funny, you know that Ralph Bakshi actually regretted rotoscoping it?

Oops, almost forgot: Titanic, easily. All I remember is that for the whole second half of the movie I had to pee REALLY REALLY BADLY the entire time.

Independence Day and the X-men series were ones that I was thoroughly disappointed by, as well.

Matrix. Sorry if I don't get excited about the main character being able to stop bullets.
Come on man. As Simon Pegg pointed out, it's now almost trendy to dislike the Matrix. While your at it, lets talk about how bad Episode I and JarJar are.
When did this happen? I thought it was trendy to love it! Oh well, guess I'l have to pay closer attention to these things.

Matrix was totally cool! The philosof... phil - it was real deep man! Man that lobby scene was awesome! Ooh, the bullet stopping thingy too! He really pwned those guys!

Is it still trendy to hate Halo? I'm getting tired of posting how good the game is in all the hate threads.

Actually that was Batman begins not TDK.
I think Arsen was saying Begins is greater than TDK.

I'm going to agree with those who said Dark Knight. Also, Gladiator. Don't get me wrong, both were very good movies, but no where near as good as many people make them out to be.
Oops, silly me.

The Godfather movies, took me 3 days to watch the first one because it was so damn boring and the characters are, so bland that I can't connect with them so I don't care if they live or die.

Well then see it for fucks sake.
The story telling and the structure is amazing.
You want everything that happens to happen and it leaves you completely fulfilled.

Napoleon Dynamite. The movie wasn't funny and was poorly produced on top of that.

That along with Blair Witch Project.

It happened one day when you were on the can. It was a real quick announcement. And it's alright to hate Halo as long as you're not a jock, or a guy who tells everyone he's a jock while sitting at his computer putting down handfuls of cheetos like they were vitamins.
