Most Overrated Game

That's without counting the NES/SNES ones...and I'm willing to flip the order of 8 and 9. The reason FF VII gets so much praise it's because, as the first of them all, it sort of set the bar and is the standard others are measured with. And, yeah, being the first definitely makes it deserving of some credit, but I agree that others actually offer a better story, better gameplay, etc.

I agree with your comments on FF VII. It's rated so highly as it is the first FF game many people actually played. It was my first one anyway.

OT: I don't think any game is over-rated.
It's only over-rated if you listen to all the hype that the game is given.

Probably the whole Orange Box for me, I really didn't care for Half-Life 2, Portal was ok, and Team Fortress 2 was kinda fun. But, maybe I didn't like it because I got the console version.

Well if i had been all excited about MW2 coming out then I would have to say MW2... but I wasn't excited about it. Anywho I eventually rented it and then acquired it for free from my girlfriend and the game is alright. I wouldn't pay for it though. The campaign was cool and I liked the ending. The multiplayer was fun at first but now it's just full of people noob tubing, camping, etc. all using the same moves so it's really boring and frustrating now.

And to whoever said BF:BC was overrated then i disagree i can still play that online and have tons of fun. I can't wait for BF2.

Only games that weren't as great as people said they were are L4D and L4D2. Actually they sucked. Alot.

Haha a game is only over rated after you hear praise about it, Try playing games you have without listening to anybody's opinnion and be impressed, they are a lot more fun if you play them without hearing anybody's oppinion about it!

And of course ill have to say,like i say in similar threads, Killzone 2 that was a fucking terrible game, the only redeeming feature ws the knife you could whip out, but that alone doesn't make for a good game.

Killzone 2 is far from terrible. I still play it online all the time, it's a blast.

I try to not look at a game as being overrated, as they are still usually great games. I will say though that I can't believe how many people praise Portal, I played it once and it was fun, but it never ceases to confuse me how highly regarded this game is.

I don't think there really is such thing as an overrated game, there's only popular games, which some people don't like. 90% the quality of a game is subjective

It was the lack of dedicated servers and it wasn't nearly as refreshing and original as the CoD 4.
