Anything you want to add?

Crysis was hyped and now everyone slams the shit out of it, for err... Being too hyped. Huh?

Despite being incredibly cinematic, gorgeous, having a pretty decent plot (not entirely original but still) and giving you the chance to play closer to your favoured style and yet everyone goes "uhh tech demo".

The kicker is, if it had had worse graphics, people probably wouldn't say that about it.

Yes, the ending was crap and the finale wasn't overly interesting, but it was still a very good game.

People just whined like bitches because their Pentium 4 @ 1.2 GHz couldn't run it on very high.

As of right now, Modern Warfare 2. There are certainly others, but this one stands out.

It's just... there's no way it's that good.

GTA IV: I've played this about 18 months ago and hated it. I played it again a few weeks ago and hate it even more. This is a terrible terrible game. I could write pages on why I hate this game if I had the time.

Going by review scores it has to be GTA4. The reviews of this game were farcical and resulted in a lot of us taking game reviews as seriously as a flower in a clown's lapel.
Seconded

Halo (series): Like many people I just don't see much appeal in it. I've played the multiplayer and I just don't think it's that good. It's just an ok game.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl: I like this game but this was hyped way too much and doesn't really deserve an amazing score due to so many flaws and dreadful online. One day I was bored and wrote a flaw list for this game. Seriously. I still have it.

Prince of Persia (The recent one): I got this game because I wanted to try out the series. The game is an overflowing bowl of shit and I don't say that lightly. It's just a bunch of repetitive platforming in which you fight enemies with the worst combat I've ever played in a game and then collect a bunch of stupid orbs. There are no rewards, poor writing, no skill to be used and has no immersion. The only thing that could be said that is good about this game are the graphics. If you ask me, this game does not deserve any score higher than 15/100.

New Super Mario Brothers: I wasn't interested in this game when I heard of it but I borrowed it from my old room mate a while back. It was bad. I can't imagine the Wii version being any better or different.

Any sports games like FIFA and NHL: Not only these games are downright crap and repetitive, but you could also play sports without the use of a videogames console. Plus you also get fit and it's a hell of a lot more rewarding and fun.

There are many other games but either I can't be bothered to list them but I also can't think of them atm.

Metal Gear Solid. The only good game in the franchise was #2
That's like saying the only good assassination was the Kennedy, or the only good president was Nixon.
I was going to go with something like, "Well, now we know you're gay, because that one had the sissy-boy in it. Sissy-boy LOVER!!!!" *Joke*

But, yours works too.

OT: Killzone 2. Not really that fun. Even for an FPS.

Team Fortress 2. I didn't see what's so good about it. Everyone goes on like it's the best game ever, i found it boring.

If guitar hero hasn't been mentioned I think I'm gonna weep for humanity.

I seriously do not look forward to a future where all games are glorified 'Simon Says'

About Halo and Final Fantasy: they're not overrated, the sheer amount of "they're overrated" hate renders them if anything underrated (and Final Fantasy gets plenty of the regular kind here).

On topic, Left 4 Dead, while still certainly a good game, isn't quite that good, at least not by Valve standards. I have another I'd mention, but I'd be crucified for it so I won't.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was highly overrated IMO, which is not to say that it's a bad game.

Well, it's basically Team Fortress Classic with better graphics & marketing.

God of war series: an epic beatumup yes, but still a beatumup. (oh and it also popularized press X not to die) Silent hill too, its scary yes.... but play through it again? Are you still just as scared of the town, or at the camera angles and combat?

all JRPGs
That sure is being a hater as they are not all over rated, just FFVII.
well i think they all suck and get way too much popularity
Judging by your name I am just going to assume it is actually because you are just blindly following what a certain someone says. You are also generalizing because you couldnt possible have played them all so you have no reason to say they all suck.

well let me explain my name first: yes i do agree with yahtzee a lot, but the name is mostly because i suck at making screen names. second: i have played a lot of JRPG's becuase my brother who is a huge gamer and a huge fan of them would always buy them and so i would for just the hell of it play them and i hated all of them

You can say that you at least don't like them but just because you do does not mean they are all over rated.

Half Life 2. Doesn't really do it for me despite loving the original. I really hated the vehicle sections and still haven't finished Episode Two on the understanding that it contains another poxy vehicle section.

Overall I felt that the 'fun' in the game was spread too thin and that it didn't live up to expectation or wholly deserve the accolades it received.
