Most pleasing: Mass Effect. The story, characters, and music made this incredibly fun. Carrying my Shepard over to ME2 was great and I'm looking forward to ME3.

Least pleasing: The Force Unleashed 2. The demo was the entire first level. I beat the game in a few hrs and promptly returned it to GameStop. My most regretted purchase by far.

Most pleasing: Assassins Creed 2, I hated the first yet this one is one of my favorite games of all time. I have no idea why since I didn't think I'd care for it.

Most disappointing: Gears of War 2, I heard so many great things about this game yet I couldn't even finish the campaign.

Assassins Creed 2 was pretty damn good, the first game fell intoa trap of being repetative and having a dull protagonist who went around looking cool but didn't have a personality to speak of. Assassins Creed 2 had much better characters and story progression, not to mention a much more expanded set of skills which kept the gameplay interesting. Not only that but some really beautiful settings and a huge degree of immersion.

Pleasing: Fallout: New Vegas. It is buggy as hell and has its fair share of critics, but I love it more than any game I've played in a long time. The world and the gameplay always keep me entertained.

Disappointing: Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It just seems like little effort was put into this game. The combat is bad, the stealth is mediocre, the RPG elements - if they can be called such - are sub-par. The story would be predictable if it didn't follow every cliche I thought no one would be stupid enough to use. Nothing about the game comes together.

And everyone in Hengsha annoys me.
Wow... Human Revolution was the most disappointing game of this entire generation for you? Man, do I ennvy you.

I completely agree on New Vegas, though. For me, it was also the most pleasing game of the generation, especially after Fallout 3. Note that I don't think FO3 is crappy but it just didn't feel Fallouty to me.

As for biggest disappoitment, probably Oblivion. It just never managed to drag me in, at the exception of some of the guild side quests and that just ended up showing how much better the game could have been. Plus, I hated the enemy auto-leveling with all my heart.

MOST DIAPPOINT: OMG CODMW2 IS SUHC SHIT B/C ITS POPLAR! IM SO EDGY xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

*ahem* On a more sincere note:

The most pleasing game of this generation for me is Nier, a brilliantly written and masterfully paced action-RPG with a moving story, a cast of unforgettable characters, and more emotional weight than I've ever seen in a video game. It's cheap and easy to find. Buy it. If you've already bought it, buy it a second time. It is a masterpiece.

The most disappointing game of this generation for me is Heavy Rain, a poorly written and abysmally paced series of quick-time events with a generic story, a cast of unlikeable characters, and less emotional weight than your average breakfast cereal commercial. It's boring, uninteresting, and worst of all, pretentious. David Cage really thinks he's made something great here. That's the real tragedy of it.

Pleasing: The Dead Rising Series. Dead Rising, Dead Rising Case Zero (A cheap download worth every imaginary penny), and Dead Rising 2 are worth playing over and over again. You have an entire area to explore that changes with each passing day. Sure, it's not perfect. The first game was riddled with bad AI, clunky time mechanic that could cost you your progress, and a limited feeling of liniarity. But it is also good. The restrictions give you a challenge that you can either ignore or excell in. The second game is even better, with fixed AI (Not perfect my any means, but better), better time mechanics, and enough in it to keep you playing again and again.
Also, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 were okay. Not perfect, but I play them pretty often.

DIspleasing: Ung... Let's see. How about Dead Island? Yeah, the only game I have EVER spent $60 on in my life, and it was a glitch fest. The game glitches to no end, the zombies have cheap moves that can kill you in one hit even with full health, the controls feel clunky, The story is tacked on worse than Leather-Face's mask, and did I mention it's glitched out the ears? Yeah, it's that bad. Yeah, I still play it a great deal. I spent sixty dollars on it for the special edition and I ain't turning back now. The story is told in disjointed cutscenes that show off the graphics which are not pretty on the character models. Seriously, in game, the characters sitting around base will NOT look you in the eye,and when they do they look like they have painted on doll eyes. The missions are varied and simple to understand, for the most part, and the only penalty for dying is loss of money which can be used to repair your weapons. The game taked ideas from all the latest zombie games like Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead, and also takes Oblivion's style of mission progression. But it feels so rough, like this is a beta version of the game, and it took SIX years for them to make it. Yeah, in 05, I saw screenshots of zombie fighting, damage, and weapons. Six whole years, and what we got was unfinished crap. I'm going to play the hell out of it because I spent the money for it, but it was a dissapointment to be sure.
