The bubble gun in Just Cause 2... it took up a weapon slot, did no damage and you gained heat from firing it. Completely pointless and completely badarse
Are you serious?

So the story is:
I was playing Mafia II earlier and I noticed a feature completely useless and very unneeded. For some weird reason they put playboy magazines in the game with pictures, so I was wondering "Seriously? What's the point of this?"
At least this easter egg hunt is interesting. A nice change from "Only 67 more Opals left in area 1 to collect!".

Discussion: Has there ever been something in a game you found completely pointless?
they are collectibles. heard they give an achievement. google is your friend. tits = sales from the "mommy mommy i want" crowd.
I don't think I wanna google the collectible.

Yes it's in the game near the on the west coast of the desert area I believe (in a grassy area with a tower in it). Yes it does everything I described so it's pointless but it's pink and shoots bubbles and is pointless so it's badarse

I can see that. I wouldn't want my porn to be suddenly interrupted with a gunfight.

Metal Gear Solid 3.

Throughout the game, aiming in first-person is easy and there is nothing that separates it from MGS2 or 4. But when Snake, um, earns his eyepatch, you'll notice that from that point on when you go first-person the right tenth or fifteenth of the screen goes dark.

No fucking point whatsoever. Extra credit points EVERYWHERE.

Read that back with an Italian-American accent, and I think you've got it.

The Playboy magazines are a collectible in the game, like most games with collectibles. Mafia II just did it different, I imagine they got some sponsorship from Playboy. In any case, those pictures are hot. :D

I would say the option to become a vampire in both Morrowind and Oblivion. In Morrowind all it did was make it next to impossible to reliably get from point A to point B, effectively grinding whatever quests you were on to a screeching halt. In Oblivion, being a vampire...well it didn't really effect or DO much of anything. Yeah you could "starve" yourself and get some neat abilities that you can very easily make better versions of with high magic stats, but then you have the same problem of "the sun kills you" like in Morrowind. Granted the whole sun damage thing was much more forgiving in Oblivion than in Morrowind, since in Oblivion you could actually feed...and effectively make yourself just a normal character again. In short, it just added a little bit of busywork to the game.
