I remember this one time I was playing the quake wars demo, defending something the enemy had to hack or blow up or whatever, and one of my teammates shoots a heli out of the air, the burned out helicopter carcass lands directly on me as im prone. Hilarious.

Falling off of the actual game world in the original Thief. A lot of older 3D games had this problem, but that was the first time I actually experianced it. It happened again in Carmageddon 2.

I was playing Oblivion the other day and as I'm walking through the forest I suddenly walk a little too fast and disconnect from the slope, and since all hills in oblivion are 70% slopes the momentum from walking too fast made it so I couldn't stop myself from falling. So even though I was about an inch and a half from the slope the whole way down it counted as though I had fallen the entire height of the mountain and I died. Such bullshit.

Cool death (aka not mine) a Wolf tried to use a rush attack from above me and just flew off the mountain and died. It was hilarious.

Another cool death, also not mine. A bandit hedge wizard who was being a nuisance wandered into a tripline I hadn't noticed yet and got PWNT by a trap and flew off the edge into a gorge and landed on a chest I found later.

The 'Ivan the not so terrible' mission in GTAIV

I decide to let him live, and then my controller decides that it would be a good idea for Niko to step off the ledge. I swear I didn't even touch the controller.

Call of Duty 4 online. While kinda strafing with a cooked granade, as I let go of it a lampost appeard in the right of my screen. The granade flu out of my hand *ping* bounced straight back off the lampost and blew up right in front of my face. As embarising as it was, it was still hilerous. Similar things of happend to me on CoD4 sevral times now.

Also - on Call of Duty 4 agian - on old school mode on Strike. Climb to the top of building in the middle, back away from the place where the ladder comes up, start cooking a granade, count to about 3 (I think) sprint forwards and jump on the edge. If you time it right you can launch corpse onto the orning, blacony or mabye even over the building in front of you.

its not really pointed to this, but, it was actually quite good, i was playing killzone on the ps2 with a mate of mine a while back and forgot to throw my damn grenade, so i ran into him, blowing me and him into the stratosphere, which was rather comic to say the least
same except in killzone the grenades were poorly programmed so i cooked a grenade to the max and managed to kill about 5 people and my friend when it went off in my hand. Miraculously I survived.

Psychonauts, I was platforming on the catwalks. I swung off a light and landed on a platform, then for some reason Raz slid forward off the platform and into oblivion.

While Playing America's Army, I went to throw a frag grenade, and my ally, who had been standing beside, who I knew could see me, at the exact moment I went to throw it, ran in front of me. This bounced my grenade off of him, back to me, killing us both, and me on a Honor serve getting a crap load of ROE violations.

I, and like 6 others on my team, were team killed when some retard newb called down a hammer missle on one of our spawn points. This is from Quake Wars btw, and the Hammer missle is basically like a small nuke, that one hits everything over a pretty large radius.

In Halo 3 me and some friends were making a huge bomb with all kinds if explosives. We fired it off and one of the containers (I can't remember what there called right now) flew off and hit my friend and killed him instantly. It was the most amazing accedential kill I've ever seen!

The most pointless deaths I've had are when I manage to splatter myself. It's actually a suprisingly common occurance.

Games where I've succeeded, always unintentionally (what purpose does it serve to die?) have been Halo 2, GTA IV and I'm pretty sure I did it in Halo 3 as well. Maybe others.

I was a naughty pirate in eve with a low sec status (which means there are safe areas you are no longer alowed into) was moving a friends expensive ship (tricked out so it was really expensive, probably 2 times the total money ive ever had in the game) for him and without realizing i jumped into a security system, Npc police caught me, 4-5 minutes i survived crawling back to the gate as i tried to escape, i exploded just as i was about to make it.
Never could afford to pay my mate back for replacement and for a few months afterwards the rest of my corp mates proceeded to laugh at me at any given opportunity.

Most pointless LAN death would have been a hard difficulty battle in Dawn of War where the "random" enemies were Chaos Marines, Eldar, and Necron. I was playing as Sisters of Battle. My friends were playing as Orcs and Space Marines. We were toast in about ten minutes.

I've also had some pretty pointless Leroy Jenkins style deaths while playing Titan Quest on a LAN.

My favorite "I die now kthxbai" death would have to be in both Lego Star Wars and Indiana Jones where I just keep running off the edge and re-spawning and running off the edge and re-spawning and running off th- you get the idea.

Link: Twilight princess.
I forgot which temple I was in, but it was the one with Fire everywhere.
And there was this long jumping sequence to get to the other side.
And so I finally make it after a couple failed attempts
And stupid me, forgetting to use C to look up, the second i landed on the final platform, three spiders came down and knocked me off.
