Most pointlessly hard achievement there is?

Completing Metal Slug with one credit. It's impossible. I've looked through the leaderboards at the top ranking players and none of them have it or any of the lesser versions of it (complete chapter X without losing a life, at least beyond level 2).

i absolutely loathe and frown when games put an "online" achievement like this on there..

i flipping hate these. especially when most top 10% leaderboards are hacked.

In Duke Nukem Forever there is an achievement for turning off the Xbox, leaving the house, meeting an attractive member of the opposite sex, and living happily ever after with three brown haired children knowing that you didn't waste 12 years of your life waiting for a game that would never happens. You have to start over if any of the children have blonde hair though. Very strict, very difficult.

I know Little Rocket Man has been mentioned, but what about Guardin' Gnome (Left 4 Dead 2)?

Pissed me off to carry the gnome that far.

It's funny I actually got it on my first try. People covered me pretty well but I almost lost it at the end.

I know megaman 9 and 10 have some absurd achievements, like beating the game without getting hurt or something like that.

If you've ever played either of those games you'll understand how impossible that is.

I would have to say '7 day survivor' on Dead Rising, it's not that staying alive for 7 days is hard it's the fact that this requires you to play the game for 14 hours consecutively with no saves and with your health constantly depleting because Frank's metabolism apparantly has a very sadistic sense of humour.

Dang I was just getting ready to mention this one I think I tried it for an hour and gave up after that.

Not hard to get, impossible to discover on your own. I was lucky enough to beat the game, and be so psyched about it that I set my controller down to grab my room-mate to play along. Ding!

Honestly, if pursuing an achievement seemed to be too much trouble or I could not envision having fun doing it, I simply don't bother. Guardin' Gnome is the only one listed thus far that I've gotten and that was simply because it seemed like it would add a fun twist to the game.

I would say either Treasure Hunter on FF13 (hold every accessory and weapon) or the one where you 5* all the Cie'th stone missions (I only got 3 on the final fight, I have all the others!)

I found 'One Free Bullet' pretty easy and fun to do. 'Little Rocket Man' was fine as well, up until the vehicle bit. That was just annoying as all hell.

For me though, Peacekeeper on Mega Man 9. Go through the game killing only the necessary enemies (bosses and mini-bosses)

I've attempted it at least twice. No chance of me doing it. It annoys me.

One free bullet was tons of fun!
Havnt bothered with little rocket man though.

Seriously 2.0 in GoW2 is just insane.

I just attempted that very feat earlier this month---and failed horribly. There's simply no way to do it short of using cheats (and the "one sitting" and console commands are mutually exclusive since the latter disables achievements for that session) in less than 40-50 hours, and even I can't stay awake that long (around 30 hours it becomes a real risk of me falling asleep in my chair).

Honestly, I see no reason why you couldn't just leave the game on. That would make it very simple, even if it would be somewhat annoying to not be able to use it for anything else (I recall Fallout 3 not like tabbing very much, it tended to crash).

I still can't get Mile High Club or Sum of All Zeroes (Cod 4 and COD WAW)

I spent a straight week on Mile High Club. And I still don't have it.

If you are on 360, check ou the insider moves video's. They have one on mile high club and walk you through it, step by step.
