I got a good one. Several years back, I was playing Demon Stone. It was a D&D inspired hack'em up done by Stormfront Studios, the guys who did the good Lord of the Rings movie games. Anyway, I've nearly beaten the game, and am at the next to last level. I quit and go to work. At the time, I was a truck loader for a freight shipping company and I had nightshift hours. I get off at about 7AM. I get back, and decide to beat the stage before going to bed. I get to the boss, a Red Dragon. The thing is, after you whittle his health down you basically have to go through a scripted event to finish him off. The game wants my Sorcerer to cast a Charm spell on him. I go through the motions, but nothing happens. Then, for some inexplicable reason my Sorcerer just up and dies. I start back at the last checkpoint, which was about 20 minutes worth of gameplay away. I get to the boss again, same thing happens. Then, it happens again!

Eventually, I realize if I don't have him stand in a precise spot while casting the spell, it bounces off the Dragon and hits him, doing damage. And when I say precise, I mean precise. I literally tried this over and over for about 4 hours. Eventually, I find the right spot to stand in the stage, and I get a little cinema. Now the NEXT bit has me jumping the Rogue up on the Dragons head to bring it down to sword level. Nothing happens, the hit detection is completely failing on all the jumps. This forces me to start the process over again! I became so aggravated by this glitchy boss battle it gave me HIVES! I finally beat it and the game however, after 7 hours of retries.

TLDR; 7 hours of glitchy boss sequence gave me HIVES!

Dark Souls, estus delay. For some reason my dude likes to wait a few precious moments to drink estus when fighting Ornstein and Smough. I can still move around, but right when I need to dodge my guy gets thirsty and refreshes himself with some estus while Smough's hammer has its way with my ass.
I feel your pain; Dark Souls has developed a paranoia in me where I question every thing that I think is a glitch with "Wait....maybe they want to make the game harder, so they made this glitch happen in such a way ON PURPOSE!"

In Fallout 3, I was doing the main questline after reaching level 20-something (well over thirty hours of gameplay), and I reached the point where you had to go through Little Lamplight to reach a Vault and find the G.E.C.K. inside the Vault.

Well the game glitched up. Bad. You needed to talk to one of the people from Little Lamplight to get him to open the Vault for you, overwise the door would be locked without possible way of opening it.

No one could talk to me. I forgot what the problem was -- maybe they ran away when I spoke, or maybe there was no dialogue to choose from, but nothing worked. I tried deactivating some mods I had installed, replayed the game from an earlier save, I waited several in-game weeks, I tried getting Good Karma, but nothing solved it. So I had to fucking restart the whole save.

My copy of Golden Sun was sold to me second-hand. I wasn't aware that it was corrupt...and by corrupt I mean it froze on the cut-scene just prior to the final battle.

My scream was heard for miles.

Dead Space 1.
When I play this part I seem to have 10 seconds to spare, are you sure you're sprinting / not missing a closer niche?
Oh well... Too bad DS2 is shit comparable to its predecessor. :(
true true, Dead Space was cool but only because of it's style and visuals but I never saw it as a horror

Fallout 3 The Pitt DLC broke so I could not complete the Mill Worker achievement (and all the nice gear you get on the way); I kept falling through a certain surface where there were steel ingots I needed to get; suffice to say I was raging, but there wasn't anything I could do except uninstall the DLC and reinstall it. That DLC was pretty broken; I remember that on the day it came out, it was so broken you spent half the time reloading because of crashes or collision failures, i.e. you falling through the ground forever... If memory serves, they actually withdrew it for a couple of days to patch it.
Of all the Fallout/Oblivion/Bethedsa related annoying glitches, that was the worst.

Mass Effect 2. I got stuck on the CORNER OF A TABLE. Literally right at the end of a long ass mission. Had to completely redo something like an hour long mission.

Otherwise...In Fallout 3 every now and then I'd hit this graphical glitch where all of these hideous blotchy lines would completely obscure my view of the game. Would have to reload a save and hope that fixed it, saving and turning off/back on the 360 didn't work. Sometimes I'd have just been traveling for a long time through the wasteland and hit it, then realize my last save/auto save was from way long ago and about 3 missions back.

FUUUUUUUUUUUU

Why do you use acronyms and expect us to understand what you mean?
Because anyone who hasn't heard of the acronym of 'LoL' (for League of Legends) has been living under a rock for the past 2 years?
You are absolutely right.
This was informative and I appreciate you telling me what it meant.

I have an issue wit Fallout 3 where it's RAM usage just continues to grow until it crashes. This means every 5-20 mins i have to restart the game, resign in to GFWL etc. It is so annoying I've never gotten around to finishing it.

Hmh, memory dump-issues are not uncommon at all, even though the reasons may be totally different.
Anything from re-installing the game to completely format your computer might be the way to solve the problem.
I had the same problem with Tropico 4 and a recent Oblivion-install.. It's a *****, but not hard to fix, just time-consuming.
Thanks tokae :) I've tried reinstalling and that didn't work and I haven't been in the mood for a reformat. Ill get around to it eventually :)

Not really a glitch, but recently in Oblivion I contracted vampirism. I was busted stealing garlic from someone's house and in the process of taking me to jail to take my fee and remove my stolen items, it was just enough time in the sunlight to kill me. Of course it autosaved as well, to my autosave was saved at me dying as soon as I loaded the game. I had to revert to my last manually saved game, losing about 4 hours of gameplay. Good this it's such a good game, I didn't mind findig all those ingredients again, and by that time, I knew the fastest way to get everything.

Probably a tie for me:

- Having F1: 2010 crash for no apparent reason when I'm leading with a few laps to go in an hour-long race. Fffffuuuuuu.....

- Having Dragon Age: Origins irreparably destroy my save game file just because it couldn't connect to the DLC authentication server. Or worse, making the entire game unplayable for days at a time because said server went down, and playing it while the server was down would have once again destroyed the save game files.

Actually I take back what I said earlier, it's not a tie. The F1 example sucked really bad, but I think DA:O has to take the cake...

There was a part in Dead Space 2 where I couldn't move on from a room without killing every enemy. The problem was that everytime I cleared the room, there would be one last enemy who I guess was scared to actually fight me because I could hear them scream but they weren't acutally in the room, like they were hung up in the vent or something. I hit "restart checkpont" at least 5 times before he finally decide to come out and be killed.

New Vegas, so many times. Areas make the game freeze so many times, I always remember to avoid areas like Ultra-luxe and Red Rock.

oh yes fallout 3 all dlc disapears then reloads making me have to do them all again, take away all my perks past lvl 20 and make it so i cant do broken steel again but make it so elements of broken steel still exist in the capital wasteland such as albino radscorpians and feral goul reavers and it wont let me get any of the broken steel weapons, also asher became a zombie, i killed him i remember taking his head off but he still walks around his office without a head or right arm, and for some reason he is wearing hellfire power armour
this is all on the xbox 360 version without mods

I think your title is suggestive to a certain PC glitch (I'm joking nobody ***** about it)

But yeah RAGE's pc texture crap pissed me off and lucky I didn't buy it before seeing the videos.
Eh? You got pissed off by a game you didn't even play?
I was upset because I was looking forward to trying it.

Final Fantasy (NES). It had a profoundly temperamental "save" algorithm (and I got it before they started including the old 'hold reset when you turn the power off' workaround. The worst part of the game, IMO, was the damn marsh cave. Early enough in the game so that you're not all that powerful, and poison everywhere. I had just finished it, saved my game, and gone to school.

Get home and hit 'Continue' only to be presented with the party creation screen (The original FF had only 1 save slot). My 13 year old rage was so powerful that I hurled the game across the room, cracking the case.

Two weeks later, my temper had cooled and I had resigned myself to starting all over, so I taped up the game, put it back in... And I loaded up in Elfland with the crown from the cave. O_O

Who says violence never solves anything?
