You know, gun sound effects tend not to sound quite as good as those in movies. I think the reason for it is that games nowerdays try to use the authentic recordings of the real guns. Movies however do the opposite: The sound effect for Indiana Jones' revolver was actually taken from a shotgun, and with the bass was boosted. Games should try to boost the bass as much as possible. Too hell with realism, I want a cannon!

The Mulcher in Gears of War 2 of course. There is nothing better than hearing that thing fire whilst dismembering people and pumping rounds into them, blood flowing everywhere on your screen.
Ahh, Gear of War fans.. :p

I quite liked the AK47 and Raging Bull in Vegas 2, as well as the MG36 in Bad Company. Good times. :)

Edit: Oh, and the pistol in Bioshock, loved that little gun.

I actually own a 454 casull revolver. It sounds like a damn cannon. Seriously, get a real gun people. Games downplay the significance of damage a gun can do to your ears. I fired a .45 caliber pistol without hearing protection and I nearly crapped myself in pain.
Guns are real; games are not realistic. Learn from reality not the posers.
Agreed, i was working down at the shooting range where the military sometimes pull out some epic stuff and i heard some shotguns going off further down. Along with what sounded like an LMG. Even with ear protection the booms were intense. The chatter of the LMG was also pretty epic, and i was way down the range from that thing.

Many Bad Company 2 guns and the M4A1 from CSS.

How about all the artilleries from Company of Heroes? They are guns right? :D

I actually like the sound of the DMR. It sounds like the gun is...accurate (I'm not quite sure what accuracy sounds like).
I agree, I think it sounds accurate. And beastly.
OT: All of Battlefield Bad Company 2's weapons are so... boomph..

Sawn-off in RDR sounds pretty awesome, well, not sounds, just feels awesome. Compact death ftw.

Also, the Desert Eagle in both Call of Duty Modern Warfare games. I love the fact that it's basically the loudest gun in the game, and it's a pistol. Fuck yes. Inaccurate? Yes. Bulky, and completely missing the point of a handgun? Yes.
Badass as hell? YES.

Anything with a silencer on it. I just love the sound it's like a death whisper...wow that was kind of creepy.

DD44 Destovie in GoldenEye.
I was wondering if someone would bring that up. It's useless compared to assault rifles, but damn is it satisfying to fire. The RCP-90 also sounded like a beast.
Then you have the Klobb that sounds like a weak fart, which is pretty fitting. What a useless gun...

Also, the best thing about the game black was how meaty those guns sounded and felt.

Have you seen No Country for Old Men? That silenced shotgun was beastly.

FAL in MW2, precise death, all without being a gamebreaker like the M16 or FAMAS.
Unless you get a turbo controller, that thing will be unstoppable ... well, unless you get sniped or snuck up on (...is snuck a word, if it isn't, it is now).

I kind of like the sound of mounted machine guns in MW2, might not be realistic but it's a sweet noise.

MG42.

It's a really, really, really angry-sounding gun. I love it. Soooooo much.

High-calibre sniper rifles like the Barrett .50 come in a very close second. Bonus points if you can get them both going one after the other. The growling roar of the MG42 followed by a moment of silence then the head-shattering thunder of a high-calibre armor-piercing round breaking the sound barrier mere feet away to ruin somebody's day downrange.

a real Hitler's buzz saw. It's so terrifying when you are actually near it when it fires.

*How the heck did my grandpa manage to get this thing is puzzling.

As sad as this will sound.... Tiger Woods golf. The sound of hitting a good put into the cup. Not so much an in game weapon as a RL weapon that will soon attack my wallet in a desperate attempt to reproduce that sound on a real golf course.

Although out of all the games ive played ive found the most awesome weapon sound to be when a Baneblade in Dawn of War fires its main gun, if that counts.

I dunno why I just freakin love it.
i dont care if it doesnt count, but hell yes this. BOOM also the earthshaker cannon is just fuck you obliteration. i love how the imperial guard get the sexy guns, it suits them.

Slightly more OT i would say the intervention sniper rifle from mw2. either that or the desert eagle. nothing beats finding a guy in last stand, switching to my 'deagle and then executing them. its useless other than that though.
