MG42.

It's a really, really, really angry-sounding gun. I love it. Soooooo much.

High-calibre sniper rifles like the Barrett .50 come in a very close second. Bonus points if you can get them both going one after the other. The growling roar of the MG42 followed by a moment of silence then the head-shattering thunder of a high-calibre armor-piercing round breaking the sound barrier mere feet away to ruin somebody's day downrange.
M-M-M-Monster-Ninja ;)
Also, very well said.

OT:

I second this good sir, the most mighty gun sounds in my opinion.

In real life most guns being fired are predominantly just extremely loud to the firer, so I dont think I'd be able to call a gun that I'd find satisfying to hear myself shoot. OR a 1911. Love those things. I'd probably say a bow makes the most satisfying sound to fire. Different types make different sounds, and I like all of them. As far as guns other people are shooting though, I like the sales pitch video of the NTW-20 thats out there somewhere. There is nothing at all un-satisfying about the NTW-20.

Game wise, probably the Spas 12 in L4D2. It's a very uncompromising sound.

The Mysterious Stranger's .44 magnum, not for the bullet sound, but the following sound of the enemy exploding.

In game it'd be a M-4A1 Pulse Rifle from the Alien and Predator games.
Love that one too, it has such a distinct sound when it fires. It's almost like someone screaming as you unleash death against the alien hordes.

FAL in MW2, precise death, all without being a gamebreaker like the M16 or FAMAS.
The M-16 and Famas are a joke without stopping power on.
your point? no one uses them without that perk so that is irrelevant.
Which makes it all the more hilarious when people playing hardcore still use that perk and waste a perfectly good red slot.

Silenced magnum from ODST. The way it collapsed a Grunt's skull was AWESOME.
Again a very nice weapon to fire, even after using if for three hours straight in the vidmaster achivment I never got tired of that sound since it always meant another little annoying grunt was dead (well that sound and the confetti and children cheering).

Double Barrel Shotsy from DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil.

It's that sound that just says "Everything in the room is dead..."

Grenade launcher. There is something very satisfying about hearing it kind of loft into the air and then cause devastation. It's almost peaceful...and then the anticipation...and then the kaboom. :)

The sound of an FN FAL is delicious. 7.62x51mm standard NATO rounds rather than the more common 5.56x45mm. On burst, the thing kicks like a mule: aim for the groin if you want a headshot at less than 50 yards. Imagine full auto. There's a reason it's a single-shot gun in MW2.

Speaking of MW2, the sound of an MG4 in that game is...........intriguing.
*licks lips*
Sorry. But that typewriter chatter sound is awesome.

Also, the sound of an anti-tank missile being launched is cool. The dropping it out of the firing mechanism with air before igniting the rocket makes for an interestingly quiet moment before the kaboom.

Loosing a nocked arrow. Guns are cool and all, but there's a real musical quality to hearing the tension of a string go and the woosh of an arrow all in an instant before hearing the crack of impact.

Guns are for girls and guys with below average sized penis'.
I can agree with that. I hunt with a longbow rather than a rifle, and I can tell you that it's much more satisfying, especially when you're actually eating everything you kill.

Definitely the grenade launcher. There's nothing more satisfying than a solid *THUNK* before a distant [sub]*BOOM*[/sub] with a few screams in the background.

I actually like the sound of the DMR. It sounds like the gun is...accurate (I'm not quite sure what accuracy sounds like).
I'll agree with you on that one. It's like a sharp crack, very simple.

I'm going to havw to go with the Halo Plasma Pistol. I know that sounds a bit ridiculous, and to be honest it probably doesn't sound that great to fire, but I've used it so much in all the Halo games that it's such a familiar soud to me. I love it.

Edit: Scracth that, I'll take the MG3 in Bad Company 2. It's not a very good gun, pretty terrible actually. But it's so fucking loud. Get 2 or three people firing it at the same time and it sounds like Thor's just entered the battle and started smashing things.

The double-barrelled from Call of Duty: World At War, it feels so good when I fire it... and when I reload it.

There's this gun in L4D2 and it sounds like a horse cantering.
I can't remember what it's called, but I just love the sound :]
Desert Rifle?

EDIT: If your talking about the three burst one then yes.
