Gantz. It had such a nihilistic view of people, and it seemed to take great pleasure in making the viewer experience every horrific thing the writers could come up with.

Kinda related, but was I the only person who saw the similarities between School Days and classical Shakespearean tragedies like Hamlet or That Scottish Play? The main characters start as good people with (somewhat) good intentions, but are brought down by their fatal flaw (selfishness, jealousy, lust, etc.), and the whole thing ends in a right bloody mess with no one truly happy. This sound exactly like what my Grade 10 English teacher said as we analyzed Mac-*shot*

Moving on, I wouldn't say it was shocking in the same way as School Days, but I recently finished RahXephon, and it had a few surprises up its sleeve. For those of you who haven't watched it, I recommend it, especially if you enjoyed Evangelion but wanted a show with an ending that attempted to make the slightest bit of sense. As for the 'shocking' bit, I know I was surprised at the very last scene when it was revealed that:

Mishima was a projection of Ayato's garbled memories of a much younger Haruka, whom he had met and fallen in love with before the Tokyo Jupiter incident.

It wasn't the sort of sick-to-your-stomach, oh-my-god-I-can't-believe-this-is-true sort of brain shock as much as a, "oh, that makes a ton of sense, and really makes the story that much sweeter" kind of revelation.

Serial Experiments Lain, a anime that will fuck with your head so much you will begin to question reality itself.
but that's the beauty of it, Serial Experiments Lain answers your questions with more questions to give a riveting story that will fuck with your mind... recognize my avatar?

Speed Grapher for sure. I've never seen anyhting so twisted but so powerful. Other then that... mmm... I dont know. Cowboy Bebop was shocking in its complexity for what it was. I dont watch a lot of foreign anime. Subs and dubs always bother me for some reason.
Hm...I've always wanted to see Speed Grapher. I haven't yet, but I want to. This interests me even more. xD

I can't say I've seen too many shocking animes. "When They Cry" comes to mind, though.

Blood+ for the 189 year old girl raping the 12-year old boy. That's about as messed up as you can get without Hentai.
Oh yeah I remember that :/

Sucks that his first time ended like that...

Lol the description of Blood+ and Elfen lied brings me some goosebumps of the old days back when I only watched violent gory anime only.

]School Days is not shit. I liked it -.-

Other than that, I haven't really seen anything else that managed to shock me.
Well, Maybe Evangelion.
Is school days the one where she goes bat shit crazy and takes off her BF's head and carries it away in a gym bag?
