I've actually heard this before: a person hating the main character of an FPS because he didn't like the character model. I could see this making sense in an RPG or even a 3rdPS, but in a game when you rarely (if at all) see the character, it doesn't seem completely valid.

I hated Ezio's Brother (who's name I didn't care to remember) in Assassin's Creed 2, because I repeatedly screwed up on the race tutorial mission and spent about half an hour doing it.

What? Is that possible?

I feel your pain. Plenty a time I've had it where a guard spots you on one of the Assassination missions and you desynchronize just because he spotted you, regardless of whether you kill him. Infuriating. Still a great game though.
