Good: Kung Fu Hustle I was expecting an over the top martial arts film with a bad English dub but I didn't expect it to BLOW MY MIND!!!

Bad: Gamer I thought it had an interesting premise but I didn't expect it to be a vaguely relevant boring action film.

What...

The director of Memento, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight and Inception is an under appreciated director???

Are you high?

Anyway...

Good: In Bruges - No one I knew had seen it, I hadn't read any reviews or heard any comments about it, saw it and discovered it was amazing. The movie had MASSIVE shifts in emotional tone ranging from the murder of a child to a ketamine abusing racist dwarf, and was still a fucking great movie.

Bad: Hot Tub Time Machine - I heard good things about this movie from friends and critics, so was expecting a good time. I guess I was the opposite of what the target audience for this movie was because I didn't even chuckle once. I have no interest and very little knowledge of the 1980's and also am not into the drinking/drugs/party scene, so no part of the movie appealed to me as entertaining or funny.

Shockingly pleasant: Inglourious Basterds was hyped up largely as a shoot 'em up in Nazi Germany, which I was looking forward to, but came out as a heavily dialogue driven retelling of World War 2 with surprisingly little violence (although graphic). Were my expectations met? Fuck no. Was I satisfied? Fuck yeah. The movie was amazing and anybody who says otherwise is an unpleasable cretin.

Shifted equilibrium: The general opinion, I find, is that Alien/Aliens are top shelf horror/thriller/monster movies while Predator is considered a B-class horror/thriller/monster movie, but I thought Predator kicked way more arse than Alien/Aliens did. I guess I just have more interest in schlocky action movies than I do in suspensful movies. I found Arnie more interesting as he engaged in a fist fight with an otherworldly being more interesting than Sigourney Weaver fleeing from a largely unseen terror.
OH MAAAH GAAAAD someone else thats heard of In Bruges! Its my favorite film of ALL time, its fantasic. really deserves to be better known!
