In Dragon Age -

During the Joining when you become a Grey Warden. I started suspecting that at least one of the other recruits aside from your own character wasn't going to survive the ritual. I was kind of happy when the archer dude bit it after drinking the Darkspawn blood, he was a dick. I was pretty horrified by how Jory (the two-handed sword guy) died though - it was so brutal. And he was so scared - he was just worried about his wife and child. I didn't really see why Duncan had to kill him, and couldn't have just let him go on his way.

Well...

Borderlands

T.K Boha(not the worst, but that's when I knew the game was going to go downhill after killing a important character, without any particular reason.)

Gears of war

Kim, simply because it was dramatic, and well done, and B Carmine, because he was a good character

Can't think of anymore, aside from Fallout 3, COD and Half Life 2. But they've already been mentioned
But Baha comes back as a zombie in the DLC

When you are playing the Dark side story and towards the end, when Mission Vao finally speaks up against your evil ways and you more or less murder her and Zalbaar for it. Made me fell... soiled inside.
There's a much more delicious way of solving that one..

When Mission goes "I know there is still good inside you! Don't do this!" over you executing her, reply "You.. you're right."

The next conversation alternative gives you this gem:

"I can't kill you, Mission. However, Zalbaar can if I ask him to. Zalbaar.. kill Mission."
Wookie life-debts are interesting things.

I never felt more dark-side than at that point.
That is pretty much as dark side as you get, I think. Delicious indeed!

Well, Andrew Ryans death wasnt in itself surprising it was more how and why he died, in other news Olga's death in MGS2, also, surprised who still lives in MGS4 *wink wink*
Oh and also in Gta4, I dont really care about Kate but Roman is a good guy, even though he bugs you through the entire game ._.

Dead Space.
Not really a death, but when he found out his wife was dead and it was just his mind playing tricks on him.. I felt so sorry for that mute bastard.

Ghost and Roach, I mean you get fucking stabbed in the back by your so called "allies" then you are completely paralysied yet still fully conscious only to die a gruesome death by fire... really makes you think wow... what a way to go...
