I was driving down a hill in Preston one winter. It meets up with a main road at the bottom which is pretty busy, so I hit the brakes and nothing happened. There was ice. I had to slam the damn thing into the kerb to stop, if I hadn't done that we'd have gone into the main road and got creamed by a Mini (I know that sounds unlikely, but my car is a Fiat Punto and therefore about as solid as a jellyfish made of cake).

Driving down winding mountain roads in a car that blew a brake line at the top of the mountain.

Closely followed by an intense lucid dream about a seriously pissed-off man with no face; I woke up and, in that half-dreaming/half-awake state, was under the impression that this man was in my room with intentions to kill me.

every time my father gets behind the wheel of an automobile is horrifying. He has a great deal of difficulty seeing and yet, he also speeds. He is also one of those people who take forever to actually get going after starting the engine and I absolutely loath sitting in a running car. Also, about an eighth of the time I'm riding with him, he gets pulled over.

The Provisional IRA had a settlement in 1998 that ended the fighting. The Real IRA split off from them in protest against the 'selling out' of the armed campaign.

From what I saw, it ain't over yet. The image of one of the IRA guys firing round after round into a soldiers corpse will stay with me until I die.
Man, that sucks. Bunch of scumbags they are.

What do they want, North Ireland is independent now is it not? I thought that was their ultimate goal.

i am deathly afraid of heights, so last summer i went to a local fair with 2 friends. somehow one of them managed to convince me to ride on one of those rides where you sit in a chair and the ride goes up slowly and then it goes down fast (forgot the name) half way through i was like "tristan, i fucking hate you" and he was just laughing. when it reached the end and stopped a second and clicked right before falling down i was like "oh fuck" i don't think it was the height so much as the dangling feet and the fact that all that was stopping me from falling off the chair was a bar that i'm pretty sure wasn't even locked down.

I still get scared just thinking about it even though it was back in june. seriously most terrifying moment of my life.

Yeah, I wasn't hit but when you're 13, it's scary.

Hmm, girlfriend had been told that I made out with/fucked my ex. She pinned me down and took a knife to my balls. She was about to cut them off until she paused for a moment and asked me what happened. My ex had kissed me while I was totally not paying attention (She tried other stuff at the same time as that kiss, but she didn't get her hand down my pants before I stopped her), and I was nearly castrated for it.

erm....you have great choice in women?

Getting ready to dive for swim team off the block into 4foot 6inches of water (Turns out that was too shallow to be legal) when one of my teammates decided to hit my legs out right as I dove. It made me dive crazy deep, so in the like millionth of a second in the air I got to think about breaking mt head open on the bottom of the pool and breaking my neck and being paralyzed for life at best. I managed to stop from hitting the bottom with my hands, just getting around 30 fractures, every joint jammed into their sockets, and 6 dislocated fingers. And my teammate just said he thought I was falling into the pool and he tried to grab me.

I hope you reported this. Restraining orders may be as much physical defense as an odorless fart, but it's a paper trail in case something really ugly happens later on.

I live a safe boring life, so as a coping mechanism I have a rediculous self-destructive imagination.

I once convinced myself that Krampus* was in my closet. I also took "The Ring" A little to seriously. Long story short, I started putting a blanket over my T.V.

The look on the mother's face, her crooked half smile, as she watched us work on her 6 month old baby that she shook to death. We thought it was another SIDS baby but we found blood in the back of the mouth during intubation. I looked up at her when I saw that, saw that creepy ass blank look on her face and I knew.
