We have always been at war with Eastasia, however that is kind of missing the point isn't it as no one would choose to live in the world of 1984. I'd say the WB cartoon world where a rabbit can totally fuck up your day.

Warcraft universe probably. Burning legion twice, some insectiod people twice, The Horde twice, The Scourge, followed by The Scourge lead by Arthas the Lich King, and now they get a guy who likes to be called Deathwing. Let's not forget about the Old Gods along the way.

I was going to say this but then I read the OP again.

Which fictional world that at first blush would look awesome to live in, but after deeper thought scares the ever loving crap out of you? Bearing in mind you're not going to be a main character, or even a hero, rather you're going to be you.

With that in mind I think that the Spirit World of Bleach would be pretty awful. Unless you have Power X you are left to live in a land constantly being shat on by those with Power X who are supposed to be protecting you. And your only chance of survival is to join/start a gang or become a bloodthirsty warrior. Also. You're in what is essentially early 19th centenary Japan. Everything and everyone is primitive and power is gained by force. I would learn as much of any martial art I could and then join a gang somewhere. Unless I was gifted with Power X.
